There's this notion that Ridge always chooses Brooke but that's patently false. I don't even have to go back to the 90s to disprove that. Back in 2015, Brooke threw herself at Ridge but he told her to go pound sand because he wanted to be with Caroline, whom he eventually married. At no point did he leave Caroline for Brooke. Their marriage was unfortunately over before Ridge fell back into his old pattern. Point is, he can and has chosen women over Brooke.

And Brooke has chosen other men over Ridge (Bill, Nick). But it's always short-lived. Ultimately they always choose each other. Ending the marriage with Caroline was his decision. If he loved her more than Brooke he would have stayed married to her.
