Why did Thomas tell Douglas about the proposal?

Thomas is showing his true colors again. He’s not changed one bit.

The whole thing was weird. Like a comedy. No kid that age talks like that.

all he needed was a smoking jacket and a cigarette in a holder, and the whole scene would have been complete. "My fawther has struggled deeply with his issues, and I am beyond understanding why you cannot just accept his desire to be betrothed to you at this time. My Muther, who birthed me at home, and unfortunately passed away when I was but a child had no issue with committing herself to my fawther. So I ask the question of you, why can you not make the same commitment to my fawther and myself dear muther Hope?" LOL

That whole scene with Doug was strange. Not the kid, the way they had him speaking to Hope. Leave it to this show to add that bit of weirdness to the already weird and unbelievable Thope.
