Why did Thomas tell Douglas about the proposal?

Actually Douglas sounded as if someone already talked to him before..."Why are WE not good enough for you, Mommy?" - "Don´t you love US enough, Mommy?"..."My real mother is Caroline Spencer"...(I got it from a recap, can only watch later)....someone prepared him for this talk.
I thought Thomas and Hope would talk with him together...

Exactly. As much as I think he did the mature thing with Hope yesterday, this was handled poorly and may not have been intentional. That child shouldn't have known about the proposal.

Agree. And the way Thomas defended Hope today, I don't know if it was intentional, either. But it clearly wasn't well thought out. Hope was reaching out to Thomas so they could sit down together with Douglas to tell him the news only to find out that Thomas already told him everything. And I mean everything.
