That's my whole point though. Ridge has been chasing this illusion of him and Brooke being "destiny" this entire time. He's genuinely happier, more relaxed, and more likeable around Taylor but he's so tied to the idea that Brooke is his "destiny" he feels compelled to be with her. I'm not saying he doesn't love Brooke just that he's lost perspective and has bought into the notion of their relationship being more grandiose than it actually is.

I don't buy Taylor being Ridge's destiny at all. Even when they were both single and living in Paris, Ridge didn't give her a second thought. I think Ridge cares about Taylor, but he's just not that into her. That's been clear.
