Chasing Destiny

Ridge has spent so much of his life chasing destiny with Brooke but it's always been elusive. I can't speak to his relationship with Caroline I. His relationship with Taylor has always been easy but loving and passionate. He and Caroline II were truly, madly, deeply in love with each other and didn't give a damn what anyone thought. It was a smooth natural chemistry a deep love that didn't feel like a chore. With Brooke it's always a chore, a challenge. I think Ridge has convinced himself of this whole "destiny" thing and feels some kind of compulsion to try and make it happen. Maybe he's finally realizing that they're not "destiny", that though they love each other, they've been chasing an illusion, trying to live up to everyone else's expectations, and it's time to give it up. At that point he would be free to accept that Taylor's the woman for him and always has been.

There was nothing easy about his deal with Caroline II. It started off with him using her to get at Rick. Then using her to have hand sex with him so he could get his creative mojo back, then it was them cheating on her husband, Rick, then Rick shooting at them. Then they dated, got engaged, she said she wanted a baby NOW, he said I never want another baby again, let's live in the moment (his go-to move the last 7 years), he tells her to move on, she runs to a hotel and takes pills, tells Tom where to find her, they get drunk together, then screw, she is knocked up. Ridge got snipped years before. He lied to her about it. Then Brooke had to talk him into telling her. Then she found out she was pregnant by Tom and had to tell Ridge. So there was not one thing romantic or easy or organic about that twisted May/December pairing. And ironically, she told her new husband Ridge she was knocked up by his son, exactly 7 years ago today. LOL. And, if you go back and watch the show on youtube....Ridge actually said this line...."didn't know, couldn't tell you were out of it on pills? What kind of man does that?"....And the answer would be, YOU RIDGE, you are that kind of man. YOU raped an unconscious Brooke who was out of it on pills, and the last coherent thing she said to you, was "go home Ridge"....and the last thing she said at all was ..."Ridge...what are you doing...no" LOL

Oh and then there was the part where Tom punches him in the nose and tells him he is sick of his ego, and sick of his always being caught up in the drama of Brooke AND Taylor. LOL. He told Ridge he was a lousy father, and not because of Brooke, but because of his ego and never being a loving dad.
