But he only settled for Brooke after Caroline married Thorne and later he dumped Brooke after her baby trap. If he loved Brooke more than Caroline he would have stayed with Brooke, this isn't more complicated. Brooke threw everything she had and he still rejected her and married Caroline.

I think that this theory is making a lot of assumptions. The first assumption that it's making is that ridge was mature enough to understand that Brooke was the love of his life. The second assumption is that ridge was mature enough to know how to treat the love of his life, which we all know from watching he was not and still is not.

Many, many people hurt the so-called loves of their lives. Many people don't recognize that that's who it is until they're older and more mature. And many people lose that love of their life because they never recognized it until it was too late.

For example, a man like ridge, probably thought he was supposed to fall in love with some rich affluent woman, like caroline. So he might naturally resist falling in love with the woman from the valley. Just like before he was ready to settle down with caroline, instead of treating her right, he was sleeping around. There's no accounting for what goes on in a relationship just because someone is the love of someone's life. it doesn't mean it works out.
