I believe Brooke is his true love and always has been. For me, the show operated as if Brooke was not acceptable to his family and Ridge was swayed by that. Caroline is the young woman he grew up with but he didn’t treat her well. He was motivated by his ego and competition. Caroline got tired of the cheating and married Thorne. Ridge admired Taylor. She was gorgeous and world renown. Who wouldn’t be intrigued. She was acceptable to his mother as was Caroline, he married her. Brooke is the woman that makes him vulnerable. Brooke is his equal for better or worse. That’s why she is the live of his life.

If Brooke is the true love of Ridge's life it was never shown, only a young woman going from one wedding to another weddng, always crying her eyes out in the back of the room, so very sad. Back in the 80's Ridge treated Brooke awful, and even today, has yet to apologize for leaving her for Taylor, never said a word about it. If this is love, don't show me hate.

I don't think that, just because someone is the love of another person's life, that that other person is mature enough to understand that, or that that other person is mature enough to treat the love of their life in a correct manner. Ridge was an immature playboy, jackass. They say for example Katie is the love of Bill's life. But Bill is a jackass. The moral of the story? Jackasses need love too?
