I disagree. Steffy has called Finn, her soulmate. She had to be put into a mental institution because she couldn't cope with Finn being gone. How does not make Finn, Steffy's "true desire". Finn is Steffy's true love. This was confirmed by the actors.

This has nothing to do with Liam, Steffy does not even talk about him at all or bring him up. He's the last thought on her mind.

Brooke and Ridge have both confirmed that the other is his or her soulmate and destiny, but nevertheless, they get involved with others.
