Nobody Understands Shared Custody

Shared custody means just that. They should have a schedule in place where Douglas spends equal time in both homes. Hope does not have primary or sole custody.


She is the physical custodial parent. Not sure about California, but in Indiana that means she has final say-so on extra visiting time for the non-custodial parent.


Only because Thomas has allowed that. They have legal joint custody. Hope does not have sole custody nor does she have the final say so on anything. Joint means joint.


No it does not. And on this I am positive. If one parent has been designated the physical custodial parent, while sharing joint custody with the other parent, the PCP has final say on anything done outside the normal custody guidelines, per the state. Meaning. If Hope has PCP, which I think she does, then she can go to Eric's, pack up Douglas, and take him to his other home, which would be his LEGAL address. Tom has had him for quite a while, so Hope would not be out of line, taking him home. It was up to Hope and Tom to decide how they want to split their 50/50 time. But, if they do not have a plan in place, than the PCP makes the final call, unless the other parent want to drag them back to court. They should just split the time and be done with it. The kid can schlep between their homes every other week. It is pretty simple. He can spend one week hearing about how he is a real Forrester and all the BS that goes along with it. Listen to his aunt and old granny Hayes bad mouth his other grandmother. And he can spend the next week with his Spencer family, of which he IS half Spencer, and from them he can learn about his mother and how he is a REAL Spencer and all that BS on their side. Should be great for the kid.

No. She has NOT been legally designated as primary custodian. . Carter has reiterated this recently. Thomas allowing Douglas to stay there longer does not equate a judge or family mediator designating her as the primary custodian. Joint means joint.
