Carter said JOINT custody when the papers were validated in 2019. If now it's shared then it's just another rewrite.
As for how much time Douglas spends with Thomas, this on on him. Between 2019 and recently, Hope never stopped Thomas if he wanted more time. It's his own fault if he disappeared for weeks after he got caught for Beth. His own fault if he was ashamed of himself and disappeared for months after the Zoe wedding fiasco. His own fault if he chooses not to spend enough time with him. Now all of a sudden he wants 50-50? If Taylor hadn't come back this idea wouldn't even cross his mind. He wants to rip Douglas away from his home, when Douglas needs a smooth, slow transition. One more proof of what a worthless father he is.
When Hope lets him take Douglas, he always leaves him with the nanny or at Steffy's. And when Douglas is with him there is always an agenda. Reunite with Hope, reunite his parents, stir the pot...
