I do not understand why Brooke has not played the game

Brooke has MOSTLY HAD RIDGE for the past 2 decades - her "grand prize" and her alleged "destiny". Taylor has only been with Ridge for about a YEAR TOTAL since she came back from the dead. I see people even here talk all the time about how they may hate Ridge but they WANT Brooke to have him IF SHE WANTS HIM. Well, she's been married to him for the bulk of the past 2 decades.

People keep talking about how Ridge may walk away from her but how he will come back to his "Logan" no matter what, because THAT'S WHAT THEY HAVE SEEN for the past 16 years after Taylor returned from the dead. In their mind, Brooke and the Logans "won" during the past 2 decades. You may not see it that way, but many people do. They act like the first 15 years of the show from 1987 to 2002 never happened.

Beth being stolen from Hope was only a temporary bump, just like Morgan kidnapping Steffy and trying to raise her in 2001 - letting Taylor and the Forresters think she was dead and YET I count 2001 as one of the years that Taylor was triumphant, just like Hope ULTIMATELY EMERGED triumphant after the Beth switch storyline. And Hope is the one who got Liam again, so that is another Logan Victory - even though I personally think Finn is five hundred times the man Liam is (but the Lope fans are thrilled that their favourite younger Logan got Lame Liam).

Again, YOU may accept that Liam treated Hope like dirt, but a lot of people are huge fans of Lope and continue to root for them. In their minds, Hope and Brooke WON Liam and Ridge.
