Right Conversation, Wrong Mindset

Thope had the conversation they been needing to have today but Thomas walked in with absolutely the wrong mindset. He was convinced by his sister that he was 100% right and Hope was 100% wrong, that turning down his proposal was rejecting him, that she didn't love him enough to marry him ever. He came in already intending to break up instead of have a dialogue with Hope. If he'd had someone who really cared about him in his ear instead of Steffy, they would've told him that Hope loved him, to have this conversation with Hope and hear her out. If you've already got your mind made up that things are a certain way you're not listening to the person trying to talk to you.

But he was willing to hear her out. He asked her some very pointed questions. He asked if she would ever be able to love him the way he loves her. She had no answer. He asked whether they were building a foundation together. She said she didn’t want things between them to change. He said that was the thing…things do change and progress, and he doesn’t know if she could *ever* be ready to marry him. She had no answer to that. He said it hurts too much to go on feeling this way. I don’t think Brooke convincing him to continue to wait for her daughter to make up her mind would be healthy for him. He’s doing the right thing by getting out before he gets sucked into a bad place again.

Hope is not in love with him and she just cannot bring herself to tell him that because she still wants his constant adoration, his "I am a one woman man" and his designing her fairy princess clothing line. Even today, she quickly accepted he was going to leave, but was still thinking he would be at her beck and call for her stupid line. Hope said all she needed to say on this day....and I am so happy that Tom made it one of the last things he said to her...."why was it only when she was rejecting him could she say she loved him?" And Steffy did not come up with that one, HE did, and it must have stuck out to him like it did to me and many others. Hope could only say she loved him when she saw that he was not quickly getting over her rejection and had shrugged her hand off his arm. The other thing she said that told us almost everything was...basically this was HER journey of exploration and figuring out her life, blah, blah, blah, and she considered him just along for the ride. Well what about what he wants HIS journey to be?

Hate Hope or like Hope....today was not a good day in any way for Hope. She came across like a self absorbed child....especially when he said "maybe I will find someone that wants me, and will love him as much as I love them..."....honestly, that is where she looked unhinged and got kind of creepy in her response. Like how dare he even suggest that he might want to find someone that will love him, when he has been given the gift of being allowed to worship her in all her "wonderfulness".....all this sex has gone to Hope's head....she now thinks she is the greatest thing in the world, on or off the office couch.
