Name meanings (reply)

But Sol, that's just the trouble. Sometimes the bastard is just a much healthier specimen, like Bridget's cute little baby that was delivered in only 2 minutes without a placenta or any of that nasty "Discovery Channel" stuff. But at other times, like when people give their poor baby a first name like 'Thorneberry' or 'Jones,' it's a total disaster !!

Aurora is a name I don't get or can't even say properly

While it isn't easy this may help: "Ah-Roar-Ah." I once worked w/ an Aurora. And of course many of us guys grew up building Aurora model car kits! The famous monster models were also done by Aurora (Frankenstein, Dracula, the Creature, etc.).

GOS My claim to fame is I am related to (Mary Shelly) who wrote Frankenstein on one side of my family & on my hubby's side he is related to (Lewis Carroll) who wrote Alice in wonderland.

Whoa! You are almost Frankenstein's daughter!!! And I'm surprised you aren't BusyAlice here! Seriously though, that is some fantastic history!

haha I have the first copy of Alice In Wonderland that's been handed down through the family. My Grandfather from Scotland meet my Grandmother from Ireland on my mum's side married on the boat on way to New Zealand & gave birth to my Mum. My aunt did the history & went back to Mary Queen of Scott's (the bad queen).
On my Dad's side His father was Norwegian & his mother was French/cheq so I guess I am Frankenstein's daughter hehe.

I envy you aussies, new zeelanders, americans and candadians i wish what i also had such a facinating history, here is a funny story my neighbor margareta and her husband moved to america many years ago and had two daughters, one day one of the girls came home angry and upset and her mom asked why and she soon got it, her daughter were mad beacuse she only had swedish blood she sad why couldent you had some relativs from other countries just as our friends have.

The Swedes are a bit more interesting than they think, especially when they got out of Sweden. Weren't you guys the 'Goths' from Gota who conquered Italy and sacked Rome when the Roman Empire crumbled, who rampaged through Russia establishing themselves as the notorious Russian aristocracy, and who joined the Danes in the Scadinavian conquest of England (remember that England had Kings Canut and Harald, etc) and were doing Viking raids for centuries on Ireland and every coast of Europe ?? You guys need to trace the extended history of the Swedes in the other nations because it is hugely curious. Also remember Axel Von Fersen who was Marie Antoinette's lover in the 18th Century and tried to save her from the Revolution ??

Thanks firedog and yes its true i dont now why we are so ashemed of ourself and our country maybe its beacuse we dont have been into a war for many hundred years, and beacuse we were neutral doing the second world war, many swedes still feels ashamed over it we dident do anything to help this poor people who needed us, but we have raoul wallenberg who were a diplomat in hungerian and saved hundreds of jewes with his own life in jepardy, we also got one man i cant remember his name who saved many people doing the miliatry regim in chilie.

Hi Ags...hope your having great weather. We are finally enjoying great weather in Iowa...it looks like fall here already. We are a month early in our farming season. My hubby has cleaned out our garden already. Our fruit trees are almost done. We don't usually start picking fruit until the middle of Sept. and finish into October.

I have a friend in the military who calls Sweden the Amish of Iowa. They are neutral also doing their own thing.

So they are neutral to i dident now that i find them facinating how they can live like they did many hundred years ago and still being a part of a modern world.

She's like night and day between the 2 guys. Liam gives her a reason to speak and say meaningful things. With Oliver she's just there to be kissed or say empty "I love you's."

Exactly! Hope's character has done a complete 180 since being paired with Liam and all to the good. They have a connection and seeing them together makes sense. Although it was a little over the top to say she would trust him with her life. Too soon for that. But they have an actual story and a boatload of chemistry. I'm feeling Hope and Liam. She and Dulliver just do not have it.

So true rensy i couldent agreed more he is so sweet and oliver is a jerk.

It's such dumb simple writing. It also makes both the men and the women look real naive to the point of being stupid. I think Ridge's mention of a condom to Oliver (right after he punched him) was one of the few if first times I've ever heard contraception mentioned on this show.

My sister handed my nephew a box of condoms when he got his first girlfriend that looked serious and a huge lecture about not pressuring anyone he dates into sexual relations. He later thanked her and said the girl pressured him into having sex and he was glad he had those condoms in his car

Hope's new hair color and style look great on her. Glad she spouted off at Bill. Bill acted like a Class A-1 jerk today.

Katie looked good today, as did Jackie. Jackie's mind must have slipped into one of those bubblebaths and gone down the drain.

Jackie kind of coming on to Rick was weird.

Bridget lumping Nick in with Deacon was totally stupid. Budge is starting to make me nervous. Nice to see Donna with Eric, still think they should get back together.

Liked the green sleeper and green blanket used for baby Logan.

Jackie should shut up about his name and quit calling him "my baby." She is sounding nutzoid.

Has anyone else noticed that even when Logan is asleep, baby sounds can be heard as if he is cooing? That cracks me up!!! Audio is having fun with us!

Jackie hitting on Rick was weird in the extreme. I guess they are paving the way for Rick to hit on her, but in the middle of acting completely nuts about "her" baby and being completely obsessed with the new life situation - to hit on Rick was Twilight Zone time.

As for $ Bill - I wanted Katie to punch him and this time KO him completely. He is acting like a total jackass. I don't care how much he hated his father, Liam does not deserve any of this. I hope Katie gives him total hell tomorrow.

Baby Logan is adorable. In yesterdays show when Bridget was holding him at one point, his sparse hair was fluffed up. For a minute - with his chubby cheeks, and the combed back hair, he reminded me of Jack Nicholson but much much cuter!!

Two words that always make me smile when I hear the English and Southern versions. The first is hair. Jackie and the old Vidal Sasoon commercials would say "Heh-ah." The other is Texans or other Southerners saying oil: "uhlll!"

I know! Those BP clean up ads and the way the word "oil" is said, I simply cannot duplicate it myself!

Try saying it just like the name Earl.

That was Owen's way of saying "Let me get back to you on that."

No, it was because Owen doesn't work At Jackie M anymore and had no one interrupt them to say he had an important phone call to take or that someone needed him for a meeting.

Hope/Liam vs. Hope/Oliver (reply)

Hope kind of left me cold at first but lately I'm liking her a lot. Like her much much better with Liam than Ollie.

She's like night and day between the 2 guys. Liam gives her a reason to speak and say meaningful things. With Oliver she's just there to be kissed or say empty "I love you's."

I prefers liam he is listen to her and treating her with respect, i am sure he would not have boinked her to a wall without any condoms and when just walked away without a word.

Nope...Liam is a talker and very excited about everything. He wears his heart on his sleeve He wouldn't have let Hope out of his sight after such a special boink

Name meanings (reply)

People rarely name their children for the original ancient meanings. They just go by the way it sounds or who they admire w/ the same name (like celebrities or relatives). Yes, Taylor is a unisex first name and more commonly a last name.

There seems to be a trend in America in the last 20 years or so to name your girl w/ an English surname (last name). Here's a short list: Taylor Swift, Hunter Tylo, Campbell Brown (NBC newscaster), Madison Michelle (TV Guide channel host) McKenzie Phillips (the actress and daughter of Mamas & Papas' John Phillips). Yes, most of them were born long before 2 decades but those kinds of names are now in the national spotlight. There are many, many more examples but these come easily to mind.

Sol, names like Taylor, Madison, MacKenzie, Thorne, Campbell, Ridge, Anderson, Hunter, and Cameron are NOT "unisex," they are English & Gaelic SURNAMES, as you say, - LAST names, and in England and the British Isles, Americans are complete laughing-stocks for doing this. It is very typical of us, sounds ridiculous, and we need to be slightly ashamed. All the more reason for "middle names," so that the victims have a choice besides a legal name change.

'Logan' sounds like a good name for a biker !! What are their hopes for this poor kid ?!

Firedog, oh, I'm sure we as Americans bastardize anything that is proper by the English. That's the very nature of who we are!!!

Didn't Aurora mean 'dawn' or 'rosy pink,' or something like that in Greek ?
