Right Conversation, Wrong Mindset

Thope had the conversation they been needing to have today but Thomas walked in with absolutely the wrong mindset. He was convinced by his sister that he was 100% right and Hope was 100% wrong, that turning down his proposal was rejecting him, that she didn't love him enough to marry him ever. He came in already intending to break up instead of have a dialogue with Hope. If he'd had someone who really cared about him in his ear instead of Steffy, they would've told him that Hope loved him, to have this conversation with Hope and hear her out. If you've already got your mind made up that things are a certain way you're not listening to the person trying to talk to you.

Genuine question. What difference do you think it would have made if he hadn't talked to Steffy? Hope is still not coming close to wanting a commitment. And Thomas should not be expected to wait around until she changes her mind if he wants to get married. So how would anything have changed between the two? Thomas would still be compromising and bowing to Hope's wishes. And once again, why should Thomas be the one to compromise? Why can't Hope?
