Nope did not happen that way... He only settled on Taylor because she manipulated Eric and Ridge into thinking that Eric and Brooke had to stay together for the sake of Rick... He also felt guilty for hurting his dad based on a lie that Stephanie created when they thought Eric was divorcing Brooke.

Taylor to Ridge is like Ashley is to Victor.... A temporary placeholder for the one they really want to be with.. No matter what Brooke is the person that Ridge wanted to be with and would have been with without the manipulations from outside sources.
