The show has ignored two things about Tridges

Thomas DID take advantage of Caroline. She was semiconscious and unable to consent when he crawled into bed. The fact that they dated for a cup of coffee before Caroline married Rick didn't give him the right to involve himself in his father's relationship. Thomas was 100% in the wrong.

Ridge had broken up with Caroline a few hours before, so there was no relationship anymore. Caroline herself had invited Thomas to come to her hotel room, she even texted him the address. And she didn't tell him that she had taken anti-anxiety pills, so he had no idea that she was much more intoxicated than he was and only semiconscious after having those drinks together. He wasn't trying to take advantage of an incapacitated woman who was unable to consent. The next morning, when a horrified Caroline told him that she didn't remember anything and never wanted this to happen, he was just as shocked as she was. His reaction made it clear that he would never have forced himself onto her if he had known about the pills and had realized that she was already too intoxicated to tell him to back off. So no, it wasn't all on him.
