It must be intentionally written. There is no way the writers don’t realize that Ridge is the definition of hypocrisy.

It must be because Ridge is the king of hypocrisy. If he hasn't figured out which woman he wants in 35 years, he needs to give up. I don't know of any woman in real life that would put up with Ridge's double standard.
