The two adoptions can´t even be compared...Beth was stolen from Hope, bought by Taylor, the whole adoption was illegal and a case of baby-trafficking.

Douglas was not stolen, not sold, Tom had him when he did co-parent with Caroline...that he didn´t have him from birth on was Ridge´s fault who let everybody believe Douglas was his son and Tom´s brother.
It was Tom´s wish that Hope should be Douglas mother, he taught him to call her "Mommy Hope", he faked Caroline´s letter and drawings "by Douglas" to get his wish.
So when Tom signed over custody to Hope it was what Tom wanted.

Totally different in any way.

Shared custody to Hope, not full custody. She has had Douglas living in her home for several years. Now it's time for Hope to learn to share.

Taylor said that Hope has legal custudy of Douglas. And since Douglas lives with Hope most of the time it looks like she has sole physical custody. Then again, this is soapland so anything goes

Thomas and Hope share custody. She is legally his mother but Thomas did not give up his parental rights so he has a right to physical custody of Douglas as much as Hope does..
