Naming Eric’s ailment is important

It's past time to name it, but I have to think they are not naming it to have the freedom to cure him. I don't think that it's a writing mistake that they have not named it. I think it's on purpose, but they are making everyone look stupid because Ridge would do ANYTHING for Eric, so would they all. That means talking to specialists who have some damn knowledge. They also have money, so it's unbelievable that they cannot know what it is.

But Steffy said very plainly that they do not.

This is definitely not a writing error. It is purposeful either because the diagnosis would make us suspicious. Or, as you said, they want the freedom to cure it without misrepresenting an illness and providing false hope to viewers watching.
