Bottom line, Hope wanted Thomas all along

Her fantasies about Thomas started in March and there have been so many speculations about what was going on with Hope. It turns out everything was fine with her, except that she got bored in her marriage and realized she wanted another guy. I don't think this is more complicated, is it? There is no brain tumor, Stockholm syndrom, mental ilness, PTSD, DID, identity crisis or whatever. Nobody is drugging her hypnotizing her. Liam didn't cross any line until after he caught her cheating. No one manipulated her or kept a major secret about her or her family. Lope can't say "we were robbed" this time, Hope made her own choices and chose Thomas.

I don't think she is fair to use "Liam wants Steffy" as an excuse. Hope knew from day-1 that Liam had a baby and would always have feelings for Steffy, but he still chose Hope when both were available. And Hope still married Liam knowing these informations. Steffy was available for Liam for years before she met Finn, and he never fantasized about her. Hope married Thomas and Liam didn't go back to Steffy, who was waiting with open arms. In 4 years he had 2 flashbacks of Steffy (1 in her hospital room when Bridget told him she may not spend the night and 1 mutual flashback at her birthday for the standalone episode). Even after Steffy got with Finn, Liam knew he could still have her but he stayed with Hope. No romantic thoughts on his side. Steffy wasn't on his radar until he realized Hope chose Thomas. Also unfair to use her mother's past as an excuse. Brooke never fell in love with another man when she was married to Ridge. Brooke never divorced Ridge for another man. And most of Brooke's scandals with men (Deacon, Nick, Eric, Thorne) happened long before Hope was a child. How does Brooke's past justify her and Thomas? Hope also has to remember it took her half a year to forgive Liam when he kissed Steffy on his wedding day in 2012. She can't expect instant forgiveness from Liam when she forced him to beg for 6 long months for a similar mistep (and they weren't even married). It takes time to forgive and she knows it. If she really wanted Liam, she would give him some space and some time. It took her 6 months to forgive him so he may need a bit more than 24h, has it ever crossed her mind? If she is already kissing Thomas the day after her husband walked out on her, it means she wants Thomas. The make out sessions in Rome can't be labelled as a "mistake". It's something she has been daydreaming about for months prior to Rome. She kissed him again and they spent the rest of the day like they are a couple. A kiss isn't a "mistake" if you dream about it for months and show zero remorse.

I would have more sympathy if she had owned her feelings and admitted it from the beginning. There was no need to string Thomas along, gaslight Liam, insult her mother and lie to everyone for months. Hope is 100% responsible for this mess. Using Liam, Steffy and Brooke to justify her choices make her a two-faced hypocrite who refuses to take any responsibility. Imo, she wanted Thomas all along in this storyline. Now that Liam has realized it, she is free to be with him without feeling any guilt because in her twisted mind, it's all Liam, Steffy and Brooke's fault. :roll


I agree with everything you said. Just own your feelings Hope. I don’t even believe she really wants her marriage anymore. If she wanted her marriage she wouldn’t have made a beeline for Thomas yesterday. She’d be sitting in the cabin trying to come up with things she could do with her work situation and Douglas to make Liam feel more comfortable and asking her mom to help her with ideas.


Oh, I think she's done with her marriage. I think Liam is going to be surprised when she tells him to stuff his divorce because she wants an annulment.


So why was she begging him to forgive her and give the marriage another chance? Just another lie? What would she have done if he had said yes?


That was before the Steffy comment. The dynamic changed after that.

To me that the dynamic changed in that moment proves she wasn’t bothered by the thought of Steffy for the past 3 years. With that comment Liam just gave her the excuse she was looking for to do what she wanted to do for a long time.
