Liam doesn’t support or respect Hope. He constant questions her decisions and actions.
Thomas supports Hope 100% and encourages her to be her, that’s pretty appealing on its own MO

Well we will see how much Tom's supports and respects her decisions and actions when they are together, and she is running over to spend the night at Bill's with Liam and Beth, because it is family night at Bill's. Or when he sees her and Liam having a grand old time with their daughter. Or Liam asks her to help him with some project at SP that involves HFTF and EOF, and they end up working together 10 hours a day. We will see how much Tom trusts her with Liam. LOL
