Fans walking away has never stopped Bell before. He even said if fans don't like it they can change the channel.

But I think he wouldn't have gone to all that trouble of redeeming Liam and finally having him make a choice and stick to that choice, only to ruin him again.

Ruin him by whose definition though? I highly doubt Bell thinks Liam is/was ruined. Cheating is a soap staple, it doesn't ruin a character.

It wasn't just the cheating. It was the constant back and forth. One day telling Hope he loves her and the very next moment telling Steffy he wants to be with her and then before Steffy can exhale properly, right back to Hope again. Even Ridge didn't ping pong back and forth between two women so rapidly. I mean the guy has kids with both women just a couple of months apart.

If Bell was fine with Liam continuing to do this he would not have changed his character to finally make a choice and settle down with Hope and not look back. He had a golden opportunity to waffle again when Steffy thought he was her husband in the hospital. But he was there for her simply as a friend and an ex. There was never any doubt about his feelings. I think there was a reason to change the writing for him so drastically like that. And I doubt very much they will damage him again so soon.
