John McCook on the end of Quinn and Eric and back to Donna

I was a little surprised at the pygmalion reference but I think it is pretty clear that Donna is fairly … I don’t know what word to use but she seems fairly …well quite often I just refer to her as a Ditzy Donna - it is kind to call it coquettish - so if they’re going to make a big deal of her being the “Forrester matriarch” which seems outdated and silly in and of itself…but if that’s how things are perceived in their family then Donna needs to expand her horizons a bit. I cannot see Donna in her current form as being a full partner to Eric – not that he’s looking for a lot of fullness beyond what he got at the bungalow :-P

If Donna wants to make some changes to her life, that's one thing. Maybe she'll want to be taken more seriously at work or something like that. But John's suggestion that Eric should have her dress differently and behave differently is a big no for me. It's very sexist. And classist. Eric is not superior to Donna just because he has money. I agree it's the Pygmalion reference that's surprising. ;-)

Plus, Eric married Donna exactly the way she before. So I don't get the sudden need to change her, and Eric's story has always been loving the Logans, no matter their financial or social standing. It just wouldn't be Eric if he started caring about that. That's in fact what Stephanie used to put the "girls from the Valley" down for -- especially when the show started. So I don't get why he'd say that.

Yeah, I think he goofed on the Pygmalion thing. Maybe he meant there would be less scenes of her in lingerie. That I could see.

Maybe or looking for a "Pretty Woman" type story, but I'm here to say it's too late for that with him and Donna. I don't even know a male character on this show who feels that he needs to shape a woman like that. I do wonder what a modern-day take on that would be like. Actually, I just thought of something. Ridge kind of tried that with Caroline Senior -- as in trying to change her. Change the way she dressed to sex her up a bit, but I guess that's different?

I started watching Season 1 and I must say, Caroline's wardrobe could have used a little jazzing up. The last episode I saw she was wearing a floor length pleated skirt and a cardigan. Lol.

"You're the love of my life."

Liam to Hope. Debate over.
