Steffy needs to stop putting it on Hope...

...to get through to Deacon.

It is not Hope's responsibility. And Deacon isn't the problem. The problem is Steffy can't control Finn's feelings. Finn is a grown man and he's going to feel whatever he feels no matter what Deacon tells him.

Of course, Deacon isn't the problem. I think Steffy is in denial, and instead of talking about it, her reaction is to yell at everyone and boss them around.

It would only make sense to be in denial at this point. She has no idea about Sugar, and no normal character could possibly come up with a story like that in their wildest dreams. As far as she knows it’s just Deacon ranting about toes and I’m sick of that myself, even knowing it was true.

I disagree. The fact that Sugar was silent that night is odd. The way the attack happened is odd. I am not saying she should have noticed those things right away but once Deacon started talking about the toes those things would have popped in her head. Steffy is smart she noticed the toes when she ran into her that day at the restaurant and she didn’t even have her face.
It didn’t have to be a crazy doppelgänger it could have been something more normal like a sibling.
Also who cares what Deacon says he is allowed to mourn any way he wants to and Finn could have blocked his number. She protests too much.

If Steffy hadn't been shot and left for dead at the hands of Sheila, I might agree that Steffy would have noticed that things seemed wrong. However, it was clear that she was really agitated and anxious about the weather and the noises outside and especially by the power going out. She was terrified and acting out of fear when she saw "Sheila." Thinking logically during and after wasn't possible.

For me, that is the exact reason why I feel, when thinking back about the events, something would feel off. She has had numerous altercations with Sheila, and none of them looked like this.
Not in the moment or right after, but when Deacon shed even the tiniest bit of doubt, my brain would start overanalyzing every detail of that night.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see if, in the conversation with Finn, we see her looking back or thinking about those things.

Agree. When Steffy bumped into Sheila in the ladies room at Il Giardino the reason she recognized her was because she had open toed sandals on and she saw there were only 9 toes. Alarm bells should have gone off when Deacon told her what he saw at the crematorium.

"You're the love of my life."

Liam to Hope. Debate over.
