There is nothing more powerful to me than a redemption story

Some of the best stories are about character redemption. All I want is to see is the journey. It doesn’t have to take a long time. I want characters to say more than they are sorry. I want them to take action and not expect the people they hurt to accept them overnight, but I don’t want the victim to be angry and afraid of the villain one moment and the next moment they are buddy buddy or even in a sexual relationship. Soap history is full of people who started out villainous and ended up victorious. The best stories showed the evolution. The worst told stories treat fans like children… the character change because we said so. I don’t know Sheila’s future, but I think the show has done a far better job with her transition than with others. I still wonder if the brilliantly maniacal Shelia set up this whole Sugar thing, but her behavior has changed over a long period of time. Her possible change is believable.

Great post. It is certainly more believable than Thomas changing or even the story arcs of some where it isn't even acknowledged that the character needs redemption. Or if it is, then it's forgotten in the very next scene.

They threw “everything but the kitchen sink” at that story - from Hope’s anxiety about her mother’s life to her brewing frustration with Liam and Steffy to her growing attraction to Thomas. Then they added fantasies with diso lights and on top of that Hope gaslighting Liam. Thomas was in the background until Hope turned down his proposal. I still don’t know what was going on with Hope and they left it open. Even if I think Thope is totally inappropriate, there was a better much better way of writing their story. I’m not a writer, but I know what would have made me more understanding.

I agree with every word. I kept waiting for them to write Hope having an awakening or realizing there's something wrong with her but it never happened. Having fantasies for someone who has done so much to hurt her and her family, and that too out of the blue, was just not realistic.

It’s called sexual attraction or chemistry
