I agree there would have to be a situation where Hope feels pushed by the combined meddling of Steffy, Liam and maybe Brooke, all three of them trying some kind of "intervention", to run into Tom´s direction.
Or maybe a situation including Liam and Steffy, either Liam running to Steffy again because he watches something he will interprete the wrong way or Hope witnessing a scene with Liam telling Steffy how much he loves her and talking about their wonderful past (like he did on Steffy´s birthday)...I don´t think Hope would go and sleep with Tom "just like that", just because she has an itch...it would take much more.

Maybe the twist is Hope sees Liam and Steffy "touching" each other and she gets the wrong idea.

I could easily see this happening.
