I don't know if he's wanting her "free" for that reason. I think he hates her and wants to destroy her because she never wanted him. She can't see him as anything but Ridge's son. I think he latched onto Hope since he can't have Brooke, and I think he wants to make Brooke's life miserable because as the Prince song goes, "I can't love you...because I HATE YOU!!!!!"

Wouldn't it be funny if Thomas has a mental issue about Brooke and after therapy we find out that it was caused by abandonment issues related to Taylor?

Yes, of course. Because it never would have happened if Taylor had been there. Taylor will say it was because she was held prisoner, but she'll never convince me that Omar held her capitve like that for a decade.
