Actually it was Paris who put the word "hot" in Tom´s head...but Hope didn´t say "Tom is hot", she said, and only after Paris harassing her, that she thought Tom is hot but she is married and thinks her husband is even hotter.
This is what Paris left out when telling Tom...
Yes, Paris put it in his head and I think it's really funny that he says he doesn't want to spread office gossip or give people the wrong idea when he heard it through office gossip, it gave him the wrong idea, and he is spreading it!
