The Glory of Taylor and the Tridge Family

No character in the history of this show has had more intrinsic power than Taylor. Each time they try to kill her off, she is resurrected, and Brooke has never had a more formidable nemesis to contend with. Stephanie, Caroline, Macy, Quinn, Shauna et. al are ultimately footnotes in Brooke's history, but Taylor remains, and will continue to be the ultimate thorn in the SFTV's side.

The main quad will always be Brooke, Ridge, Eric and Stephanie. Taylor is no more intrinsic or impoirtant than characters like Hope, Liam, Steffy, Bill, Thorne, Amber or Rick. Taylor wasn't a character until episode 800. Then she was gone for years between 1994-1995, 2002-2005 and again 2013-2022. She could leave canvas again today, I wouldn't miss her.

The recast with Krista Allen and the concerted effort by the writers to portray Taylor in the most glowing light possible since the recast is a testament to the character's supreme and transcendent sway over the show. The character is bigger than any single actress or writer. It would have been so easy for Brad Bell to have her stay dead after 2002, or to never bring her back after her "crimes", but here she is, more fresh than ever!!! :love

This is called rewritting, whitewashing a villainous character. I don't see anything glorious about it. They could bring back Sheila tomorrow and pretend she never shot Steffy, Finn, Taylor and Brooke, it would be the same.
But how is she portrayed in the most glowing light? I can't even think of one glowing thing about Taylor since she came back. She ignored her children for years, was never there when Steffy and Thomas were going through difficult times, but yet she is praising herself claimg she has always been there for her children. She pretends she left town because it was too hard to see Bridge together, when the real reason she left LA was because she and Bill made a deal. She had to leave town and never come back if she didn't want him to go to the police and turn her in for attempted murders and obstruction. She has been acting like a homewrecking, hypocritical interloper since she set her foot in LA. Kissing Ridge, hitting on him, bad-mouthing Brooke, keeping secrets... And now she slept with a very married man who hasn't even filled for divorce. She was wrong about Sheila and put her family in danger. And now she is wrong about Thomas. She is a failure as a mother, as a grand mother, as a wife and as a psychiatrist.

The Tridge Family have also taken over the show in the most marvelous way. Steffy is the Co-CEO of Forrester with Ridge. And Thomas is front and center, both as a designer, and as a guy that keeps interacting with every primary member of the cast. By contrast, the so-called 'blood' Forresters like Thorne, Felicia, Kristen, Rick and Bridget are GONE. Taylor's children are the focus, the ones who represent the face of the next generation, and the ones who drive all the stories now.

Steffy and Ridge are only co-CEO because of a bribe from Quinn. Appointing Steffy CEO never even crossed Eric's mind until Quinn whistled the idea in his ear because she wanted her with Wyatt. Then she only suggested to appoint Ridge co-CEO because she was feeling guilty for cheating on her husband with his son. They don't get any credit for that.
Thomas is only front and center when he is obsessing over Hope, abusing his child, colluding with Sheila, committing crimes or manipulating couples. A designer? I can't remember the last time produced a new collection.

The Glory of Taylor and the prominence of the Tridge Family over every other family on the show is now ABSOLUTE. Taylor is and will forever be Queen on the show. :-) :-) :-) Even when she was gone, her children Steffy and Thomas were very dominant, to the point where the other characters their age simply seemed to react to whatever the Queen Mother's son and daughter were doing.

Taylor was gone for 8 years and she was hardly ever mentionned. Steffy and Thomas also spent years in Europe. The only characters who never left canvas since Taylor left in 2013 are Brooke, Ridge, Eric, Liam... I think Bell considers these characters more important than Taylor. He wouldn't have waited 8 years to recast her if she was so essential.

The deaths of Darla, Aly and Emma were practically blips on the radar of the show; almost as if they were pointless characters. Insignificant in the context of Taylor's story and the trajectory of the Tridge family! As for shooting Bill, the man himself has now forgotten all about it, to the point where he is happy to sell his Aspen house to Steffy and the lady who shot him. :-P :-D I LOVED how he told a dumbfounded Brooke that both Steffy AND Taylor were at that house 2 weeks ago, without batting an eyelid. ;-)

I don't see what positive there is in this. The only thing it shows is that Steffy, Taylor and Thomas all have someone's blood on their hands. They all contributed to a death. Thomas did it on purpose. Taylor committed a hit and run but after what she did to Bill it's clear she is capable of cold-blooded murder just like her son. The fact that the writers choose to ignore these events makes Taylor and Thomas even more unlikable for me. I would feel a bit differently if they were treated like the unredeamable seirial attempted murderers they are and paid for their actions. Sweeping their crap under the rug makes the characters even more obnoxious every time they judge someone minor mistakes.

This is absolutely and utterly remarkable considering the fact that Taylor isn't a day one character. She only came on as a replacement for Caroline, but boy has she (and her children) dominated and influenced the show and the life of Brooke since then in a way that no one else has. ;-) Day one character Brooke is like a chump in Taylor's story now.

Brooke is not a chump. She is the true victim and heroine in this story. The loser is the woman who gets the man by default, and benefits from manipulations. When all is done and over, Ridge will go back to Brooke, while Taylor/Thomas/Steffy will look like the bitter, unhappy losers they are. Exciting times coming.
