Why is Thomas not "around as much?"

I'm confused by this storyline. I thought Thomas was getting his life together and spending more time with Douglas. Then, there was a hiccup in the plans when he couldn't get that house.

So what's been going on since then? Hasn't that been months and months ago? Last year even? Why has Thomas fallen off on visits? Why doesn't Thomas want to stay at Eric's? I thought Thomas was poised to buy a whole house?

I think the writers need to remember what the heck they wrote because there has to be a story behind Thomas being ready to get a house to now he wants to live with Eric and from Thomas spending more time with Douglas to now Thomas isn't around as much.

So Thomas "hasn't been around much", yet he wants Douglas to come and live with him instead of with Hope and Liam. I don't know what Thomas has been doing to cause him to be MIA from Douglas' life, but who's going to be looking after Douglas when he moves into Eric's with Thomas? Eric's pickle partner Donna?

Right. I think all Douglas would be doing is switching beds and still having the same problem, but compounded because now Hope, Liam, and Beth are not there, either. Of course, the writers will make douglas think it's the best thing since Santa kissed grandma -- the end.
