Hope's words about Deacon (General)

Viola, 4/17/2024, 6:52PM (13 days ago)

My father has a tendency to make some troubling decisions... When Hope said it I rolled my eyes. Love her, but she really needs to stop believing that Thomas ever regretted what he did to her, Brooke, Liam and many others. He just regrets he got caught. Her decision to date Thomas was even more foolish than Deacon's decision to date Sheila. At least Deacon was not Sheila's ex victim and he is sure that he wants to be with her. Hope's feelings for Thomas weren't even half as strong as Deacon's for Sheila.

Thomas does regret what he did. We have no proof that he does not.

Thomas does regret what he did. We have no proof that he does not.

The proof that he doesn't is in the fact that we heard him say that he regrets hurting people and then we saw him scheming again without remorse some months later. It happened more than once and I still didn't see Thomas crying and having flashbacks about Emma and the hurt he caused to others. There is never a moment like that. He also lied to Hope that he has no more secrets and he did it without any shame or flashbacks. No remorse or empathy has been shown on the screen. He was a sociopath since years and that is who he is imo until I see him feeling bad for his victims.

Thomas does regret what he did. We have no proof that he does not.

The proof is that he only confessed when he gets caught. If he truly regretted everything he would not have waited for Xander to come back and expose him. He would have told Hope everything way before that especially when they started their relationship. And even then he didn't tell Hope everything. Thomas only regrets after he has been caught.

Besides the writers always show if someone feels haunted by hurting others... We saw Flo in pain for hurting Hope... Heck, we even saw Reese feeling bad for what he did and having flashbacks. Thomas just smiles when he hurts people and later talks that he feels bad and just waits for an opportunity to hurt Brooke or her family again. No flashbacks, no painful looks. Unless it's about his nasty sister or unhinged mommy.

I must have missed when he confessed all about Emma BEFORE Zander told....oh, wait! I didn't miss it because it didn't happen! He only told Hope AFTER he knew he was CAUGHT.

That is your opinion. Others of us saw he has lied and he feels zero remorse. He has been said to have "changed" many times and it has been shown to be false. We are all allowed to have our own opinions on what we see.

So everyone thinks that Sheila is dead and Deacon is nuts - fact.
Ridge, Liam and Finn claim Steffy is a wonderful, caring, loyal woman - fact.

I think Hope believes Thomas has changed. Him being the one to walk away was a good sign. Other characters believe he has, too. Liam seems to be the only holdout. Even Brooke has softened her stance on him.

Of course, even if he has changed, it can all go out the window if the show decides they want to use him as a villain again. Hope is a very forgiving person. Too forgiving, if you ask me. But I don't think she would have gotten involved with Thomas unless she thought he had changed. I think they ended because she isn't in love with him. She's in love with Liam.

Yeah, but it still made no sense that Hope won't give Sheila the benefit of the doubt given Hope has forgiven psycho Thomas time and time again and she's quick to believe he's changed, but Sheila can't change? If anyone can understand how Deacon feels about Sheila, it should be Hope who was with Thomas that did plenty of evil no different than Sheila. Hope was quick to be empathetic towards Finn too when no one in his in laws family would.

IMO, it just made no sense that she absolutely doesn't believe Deacon when he said Sheila has change when Sheila has never done anything directly to Hope, but psycho Thomas who actually did pure evil to Hope, Beth, and Lope..but Hope can easily believe his garbage that he's "changed".

If someone forgives someone and believes they've changed, that doesn't mean they have to forgive everyone. Maybe she would have come to forgive Sheila, too, over time. But I don't see why it has to be all or nothing. Most of the characters on the show haven't forgiven Sheila. And she's not the only one who thinks Thomas has changed. In fact, I would say most of them believe Thomas has changed and Sheila has not. Hope isn't alone in that.

Hope's words about Deacon

Sammy @, 4/18/2024, 6:39PM (12 days ago) @Drangonfly

My father has a tendency to make some troubling decisions... When Hope said it I rolled my eyes. Love her, but she really needs to stop believing that Thomas ever regretted what he did to her, Brooke, Liam and many others. He just regrets he got caught. Her decision to date Thomas was even more foolish than Deacon's decision to date Sheila. At least Deacon was not Sheila's ex victim and he is sure that he wants to be with her. Hope's feelings for Thomas weren't even half as strong as Deacon's for Sheila.

Hope saw Thomas up close and personal every day and she says he's changed. Maybe if she had spent time with Sheila like Deacon did she would change her mind. Maybe not. Thomas did horrendous things but I don't think he's on the same level as Sheila. I think Steffy is worse than Thomas.

But she knows Deacon spent a lot of time with Sheila no different than she spent time with Thomas..so, she won't trust Deacon's words/judgement? Thomas may not be on the same level as Sheila, but he's done plenty evil derectly to Hope/Beth/Lope, so it still made no sense to me that she's quick to believe his so called changed, but won't give Sheila any benefit of the doubt..especially since Hope knows that Sheila actually saved Kelly's life too..that should have count as something, but not to Hope? Weird.

I actually believe before this mess Sheila had change somewhat. She wasn’t doing anything to anyone. The one that hasn’t changed is Steffy. Horrible

But the show rewrote the history of Emma's death. They didn't rewrite Sheila's crimes. I'm not saying that, because they rewrote the history, that people should buy it or find it realistic. I'm just saying, that's what I think the show is trying to tell us. Thomas's involvement in Emma's death was whitewashed by the show. And Hope forgave him for the Beth stuff. Realistic? No way. But that's what I think they wrote...that Thomas has changed and Hope has forgiven him.

That's my interpretation. I don't think Hope is suddenly going to "wake up" and realize something was going on with her that explains why she was able to forgive Thomas.

There are a lot of things about the Thope story that didn't make sense to me. But that's how I think they wrote it. I don't think the writing is going to have Hope change her thinking now and say...Hmmm, what was wrong with me? How could I possibly have fallen for someone like Thomas? I think the story has been told. Hope forgave Thomas and she loves him. Liam doesn't even seem that bothered by it any more. He and Hope are in a good place, spending time with Beth, taking her to the zoo together, etc.

I don't know why it's different for Hope than for all the other characters. Just about every other character believes that Thomas has changed. And everyone except Deacon thinks Sheila is still dangerous. Look at Lauren's reaction yesterday.

Redeeming Thomas may have been a real writing stretch. Very unrealistic. But that's what they did, IMO. At least for now. Maybe they'll decide to use him as a villain again, down the road.

Weird.

But Hope stands out on this show as a very forgivng person more so than most characters..you even mentioned in your earlier post that "Hope is a very forgiving person. Too forgiving, if you ask me", so it really made no sense to me that she forgave Liam for that drunken ONS, she forgave psycho Thomas (doing evil to HER/her family) countless times and believed his so called changed, but she can't forgive Sheila who saved Kelly's life and won't believe her dad when he told her that he has witnessed Sheila has changed.

Sheila shot her own son and shot his wife so she couldn't call 911.

And Thomas killed Emma, abused Douglas, and told Hope to her face that her Beth is dead and to get over it.

But if anyone was going to understand Deacon's feelings for Sheila, it should be Hope! Rewrite or not, changed or not, they are BOTH psychos who's done evil. So, it made absolutely no sense to me whatsoever that Hope as a forgiving person can easily forgive and believed Thomas is all "changed", yet do completely opposite with Sheila who did NOT do evil to Hope directly and has saved Kelly's life, yet Hope refuses to believe Deacon at his word that she's changed for the better? IMO, only psycho Thomas can "change" is pure garbage to this viewer. Smh.

Thing is Hope has ALWAYS been written as a very forgiving person, much more so than most characters, so it really truly is very unrealistic that she's quick to forgive one psycho and believed he's changed (along with his mafia family), but she absolutely refused to believe Deacon's word that Sheila's changed even after saving Kelly's life and has proven herself to stayed away from the cliff house for a good long while. It was all Steffy who's the one that kept trying to poke, assault, and harrass the bear, and NOT the other around.

Anyway, I think we've gone too many rounds in this conversation and I'm just gonna bow out..l think we pretty much agree about Thope..and to me, they never made sense to begin with. Good riddance! LOL.

Shown on screen, Steffy blackmailed Bill. Yet, she told Ivy (and Liam too) that “blackmail is a crime”. Per Steffy’s own words, she IS a criminal cuz she has blackmailed.

Hope's words about Deacon

My father has a tendency to make some troubling decisions... When Hope said it I rolled my eyes. Love her, but she really needs to stop believing that Thomas ever regretted what he did to her, Brooke, Liam and many others. He just regrets he got caught. Her decision to date Thomas was even more foolish than Deacon's decision to date Sheila. At least Deacon was not Sheila's ex victim and he is sure that he wants to be with her. Hope's feelings for Thomas weren't even half as strong as Deacon's for Sheila.

I think Hope believes Thomas has changed. Him being the one to walk away was a good sign. Other characters believe he has, too. Liam seems to be the only holdout. Even Brooke has softened her stance on him.

Yes, I'm so relieved that Thope is over. I'm praying it's done for good. ;-)

I disagree. Hope's feelings for Thomas are strong. She was sure she wanted to be with Thomas. She just wasn't ready to marry him.

In my opinion she was sure she wanted to have not committed sex relationship wit Thomas, just that

He was engaged to a psychotic murderer. The same murderer that Steffy left the country to protect her kids from.
