The reason Eric doesn't want them to know (General)

Tiqui1999 @, 11/29/2023, 3:22PM (155 days ago)

I see the reason Eric doesn't want them to know. They are worrywarts. They will worry him to death. Donna and RJ are bad enough. I can't imagine all of them hovering over him, worrying him like that.

Today, I felt like telling them to leave him alone and let him breathe. Damn. He's dying. They know it and know his plan is to live until he dies. So fussing over him and calling the doctor every two seconds ain't the way to go. It's bad putting him in the position where he has to reassure them the whole time.

I hear you and you are correct it IS too much at one time. But in my opinion the overbearing is still better than nothing at all. they know but they are not allowed to let Eric know that they know so on the surface it looks like neglect and not caring..

R.J. and Donna know and they are worrying the crap out of him, despite his wishes. The rest of them knowing and acting like that in his face would drive him into the grave. That's my point. Overbearing is bad because it will affect Eric mentally and worry the hell out of him. That's not how he wants to spend his last days -- not like what R.J. and Donna were doing today. It's not fair that he has to console them all day.

And the ones that do know, all they are doing is talking about themselves and what they will lose. It's getting on my nerves.

Exactly!

Look at how they scrambled like an emergency room team of doctors when he coughed in the showroom. It's aggravating in the least. If he's not choking, let him cough as they would any other person. But if his every wobble, sneeze, shake or quake has to be met like this, it's gonna feel like an eternity till death.

Dying of what? Does Eric even know? It’s inconceivable that Eric, or anyone, would accept that they’re dying without a diagnosis. People need clarity to process such things.

I don't know what they know. It sounds like from what Steffy said, they don't know -- but Donna might know. So I don't know what Donna knows. This that you bring up is a flaw in the storytelling. I agree it's inconceivable, but that's what the writers are selling. Donna seems to be beyond the point of asking what it is, but at the same time, she tells Eric it could have been another TIA.

So he's really having TIAs? IDK. Just like Steffy said, it's all shrouded in secrecy. And I agree, again, it's not conceivable. I really don't get a story that we are supposed to invest in when nothing is knowable.

It’s a little bizarre to say the least that someone coughing up blood hasn’t had a chest x-ray but has a diagnosis. Ridge said today he talks to specialists. Specialists in what? Divine intervention?

It makes no sense. He did say he was talking to specialists. Talking to them about what even? And what more tests can there be?

I heard that specialists too but shouldn’t they exam Eric?

Donna called the doctor because Eric almost passed out.
They probably would call the doctor often if Eric would allow it.

Donna had to tell Eric that she was afraid today.
I understand that he wants to die on his own terms, but Eric has to stop pretending that he doesn't
realize the seriousness of the situation and the position he is placing RJ and Donna in.

Should they let him choke on his blood the next time he has a coughing fit, or not catch him when he gets light headed and starts to teeter?

Eric really has placed them in an impossible position. They can't pretend not to care.

Eric knows he is dying. He is not pretending that he isn't. Donna called the doctor and the doctor did nothing. Eric has a right to refuse treatment. Let him choke on blood? Or steak or chicken or martinis maybe?
