Liam can't forgive cheating? (General)

Liam never should have been there in the first place. Steffys problems are not his to deal with. If he can chat with Steffy...and accept her constant legs up behavior, and her desperate games what’s the harm if Hope flirts a bit? Staying at Steffys should have seen him served with divorce papers. Her little issues are not Liam’s business. So he can take a seat and see how it feels to get shat on time and time again.

Now I got a problem with Liam. He's consistent, I guess since he dumped Steffy for cheating. I just want to know what makes him think that what's good for the goose is not allowed for the gander.

In this situation, I think the case will be more complex than "forgive not forgive". Maybe he can forgive Hope, but can he accept it and be happy with her for the rest of his life knowing she is in love with his worst ennemy? Will Hope even want him to forgive her? The way she is acting now around Thomas, it's clear it's more than just having some feelings for him.

Why should Liam makes sacrifices and stay with Hope if it makes them both miserable in the long run? If Hope and Liam are unhappy, Beth will be unhappy too. It's a complex situation. More complex than "will Liam forgive or not?"

Sent cards and flowers, telling her he found forgiveness and was coming home. Then Wyatt raced to his cabin and told him he caught Steffy and Bill together and said they were still sleeping together. When he found out it was a lie, he took his ring and proposed to Steffy.

I just rewatched the beginning of the episode yesterday. Liam's exact words are : ''there is a lot, there are so many things I can forgive, but not that, you now, never that''

In my opinion the word "that" strongly implies Hope crossing a line with Thomas (which she has done in many different ways by now). He didn't say Thomas but since Thomas was the main topic of Steffy and Liam's conversation, it sounded logical to me.

Thomas looked at him in the eyes and yelled at him to forget about Beth (knowing she was alive) and was on his way to end his life, and now Hope is in love and betraying him with that monster. Even for him, it should be too much.

Hope forgave Liam first. Hundreds of times. If he had not forgiven her he would have been the biggest hypocrite of all. Which it seems like he is anyway, after what I’m reading in this thread.

Disagree. I was watching long before 2010. Hope cheated first with Oliver. And not just once. The triangle with Oliver took place long before Steffy and Liam. So no. Liam forgave her first.

Hundred...Interesting. I respect your opinion but I'm trying to remember these 100 times and I'm unable to. The bachelor party kiss in Steffy's car and the Italy make out session on the bed. That's 2 times. 3 if I count the mannequin story. When were the other 97 times? I must have missed them.
Oh, there is that long storyline when Rick and Othello made Hope think Liam slept with Steffy, but in fact he didn't. That SL took over more than half of 2012... Instead of confronting Liam about what Othello said he saw, she dumped him and never gave him the reason why. When she learnt Liam didn't cheat, she lashed out at Rick and immediately decided she wanted Liam back. Liam isn't the one who kept a major secret in that storyline, it was Hope. She should have told him about Rick and Othello right away. She would have known Liam was telling the truth and they would have worked it out immediately.

I'm still trying to remember this hundred of times Hope had to forgive him. Anyone?

Liam paid for most of his cheating. Hope always dumped him, and he always had to beg and earn her trust, lower himself and plead until she would forgive him.
Hope never paid for her cheating. She never paid for kissing Thomas 3 times and lying. She isn't paying for the last 4 years of putting Thomas ahead of her marriage and her family. She never had to ask for forgiveness. For anything. Liam always forgives her naturally. She doesn't even have to ask, he just forgives her, blames the other guy and moves on.

(PS. if kissing = cheating, then Hope cheated first)

There is a difference between forgiving a random guy and forgiving Thomas. But, let's wait and see how it plays out when he finds out. It isn't the first time a character says he won't forgive something but then does. Eventually, all will be forgiven, I'm sure.

What random guy? I didn't take Liam to mean he couldn't forgive a random guy or Thomas. I took Liam to mean he could not forgive Hope for cheating. Thomas would not be cheating on him. Hope would be.

I took him to mean he wouldn't forgive Hope if something happens with Thomas. I agree with you that he is a hypocrite, IMO his level of hypocrisy will never touch most of the other guys. I will give him the benefit about Hope. I guess I've become more team Liam than team Hope lately. But If he divorces her, and if Hope fights for him and he never forgives her, as a big Lope fan, I will be disappointed in him. I'll give you that.
