Hope is gaslighting Liam (General)

Hope already paid back Liam for all the s**t he’s put her through, and his name would be Wyatt, Liam’s brother.
Liam’s feelings are justified. Hope’s telling Liam that he’s imagining things. That’s gaslighting. As written, he knows something is wrong. Where he’s off-based is that Tom is not making any moves. Hope supposedly has growing feelings for Tom.
So after Liam knocks the hades out of Tom which I suspect we’re building towards, Hope will feel justified in loving on poor Thomas, the man who moved hell and earth, forced a girl running away from him to her death, and threatened others to keep her stolen child’s whereabouts a secrets. Where’s the comparison for that? When did Brooke fall for that kind of villain?
There is no comparing what Tom did to Liam and Hope to other situations on this show.
It’s just a soap, yes, but I believe in consistent and logical writing. It’s got to make sense no matter the type of show.
I’m frustrated because while I want AN to be front and center, I worry this is going the path of so many other characters who were hurt because the show goes overboard trying to convince us of something. This situation doesn’t feel story-driven. It’s not a natural progression of what’s happened on this show.

also "it's a soap" is such a weak argument, just because it's a soap doesn't mean anything goes lol

Well, cheating is usually soapish but some things should not happen, not even on a soap. Like the ED story e.g., especially as it wasn´t done in good taste.

Hope can't act all injured by Liam's suspicions while feeling the way she's feeling. She needs to tell him.

Great post. She has been gaslighting him.
Hope has always taken Thomas’ side over Liam’s for years. I believe she even said to Liam that he was lying, at one point, about Thomas. She actually has two families - Thomas, Douglas and her, and the other,
Hope, Beth and Liam (unfortunately, this family seems to come in second). If she wants Thomas, move on with him and release Liam so that he can also. I, actually, would like a new female character for Liam.

You are spot on....she is gaslighting him for her own selfish reasons, she is too afraid to admit she is as flawed as everyone else on the show when it comes to integrity. Now Steffy is going to find out, and I hope Steffy tells Hope to knock it off NOW for Liam and Tom's sake, or she is going to straight to Liam to let him know what is going on. And, Hope is the one that asked Steffy to "talk" to Liam about how Tom has changed, so she opened the door for Steffy to interfere. I want Steffy to tell Liam immediately what is going on, I would not even give Hope a chance to tell him herself....I would not trust her to do it. Steffy does love Liam and care about him.

All your points are valid. All your concerns are real.
I would like to add 1 more thing if I may to your eloquent points. I think that Bell Jr didn't build this the way some other daytime shows did with the good girl falling for the bad boy. The other shows that went down this path had heroines or ingenues that had flaws themselves. Hope really hasn't had any that she's created. She ALWAYS has been judged by the circumstances surrounding her conception which was not her fault. She's been judged because of her mother which hasn't been fair at all. This character has been written as the ultimate good girl. Bell doesn't know how to get around that now so he can do what he really wants.
I don't like this either. I want more for AN than to be put in this mess. A tool to restart the families warring which is what Bell loves best.
