The Only Way to Save this Show (General)
Cut out a chunk of the current cast except Eric, Brooke, Donna, Katie, Bill, Ridge, Taylor, Hope, Steffy, and a few others. I love Sheila, but her time is done and needs to go, they don’t know what to do with her.
Then, the show needs to get back to its roots. Bring back Bobbi Eakes as Macy (thought dead but never was, she was always living with her mother, the OG Sally on the tropical island. Bring her back, with her brother CJ and maybe Clarke Garrison, try to get the Spectra Garrison fashion house back up and running, they need money, enter Bill Spencer, they all work together in getting the fashion house back up and running, Bill uses his power to try and crush Forrester for the way Ridge has treated Brooke. Have Macy bring back the Eye on Fashion magazine because. Clarke as head designer. Work the fashion shows and company drama back into the show. Heck, even bring back Winsor Harmon as Thorne because it would be stupid if Macy is back, and he doesn’t come back to LA. Have Bill and Brooke reunite completely, even though Li would NOT be happy. Bill makes Brooke co-CEO of the new Spectra Garrison House, even though Macy hates and doesn’t trust Brooke.
Focus the drama like it used to be in the 80s and 90s. Have major storylines going all at once for every single character instead of just one or two stories focusing on a small handful of the cast.
I know this would kind of be rehashing the past, but hello!! This is what the show was originally built on and they got completely away from it. There aren’t even any true Forresters on the show about the Forresters anymore. They need to bring back Thorne, Felecia, and Kristin again. Ridge is NOT a TRUE Forrester and neither are his kids with Taylor. Have REAL Forresters return and eventually try and boot Ridge out or at least have Forrester Creations run by Forresters again.
This show as it is now, doesn’t resemble the Bold & the Beautiful at all anymore. Brad needs to step down as head writer. Give the job to someone else but at the same time, plan out more interesting stories and map out all the characters and what they’ll be doing for like a year in advance. Brad makes up stories as he goes along, which is why none of his stories really go anywhere or have a beginning, middle and end to them.
Ok my rant is over. If these things happened, this fan would return to watching the show I used to love.

BB will never, never hand over his position as head writer to anyone else. I don't blame him. If it were my show, I wouldn't hand the position over, either.

The show needs some plots that aren't just break ups or make up or cheating. I realize soaps are about relationships, but they can show people in relationship facing other challenges, health, business, etc.

Then the show will just keep getting worse and worse. It should either be rebooted back to the glory days with those classic characters and storylines, or cancel it. The show is 1000% garbage at this point. I can’t even believe any of you people here still watch it. It’s kinda sad really. I don’t watch this trash anymore, but I still like coming to this site to hear about whats happening, even if whats happening is awful.
So, the only way you guys think to save the show is what? I say the only way to save the show is to go back to what I suggested, or cancel it.

The most recent Spectra group was goofy. The original Spectra group was amazing. How can you be a fan of B&B without loving the original Spectra group lol

I agree with you, maybe not 100% but at least 90%!
The show needs to get back to long-term character based storytelling, find its roots again, and reintroduce the business/fashion element.
I largely agree with what you said about getting rid of peripheral characters (although I'd keep Sheila if they went back to writing her like in the 90s when she was nuanced and not just a cartoon villain).
And Bobbie Eakes's Macy taking over Spectra is something I've wanted to see for years (I'd much rather have the original Spectras Macy, CJ and Clarke than the newly invented Spectras). The connection between Spectra and Spencer Publications would also be a great nod to the show's history - I could imagine Macy going to Bill asking SP to invest in Spectra, him saying no, and her outsmarting him by winning over the person who owns the other half of SP (because Karen Spencer has an established history at Spectra Fashions and is a friend of the Spectras).
In my mind, Ridge is as much a Forrester as the rest of them, but right now, he is the only original Forrester sibling there and that's not good. We need more Forresters on the show. Thorne and Kristen or Felicia would be a welcome addition, as would Bridget.
But really, the writing is the main problem. If that doesn't change radically, I don't see anything else getting better. It's everything from the (lack of) long term planning to the cringeworthy day to day dialogue.
