Bizzare overreaction? Hardly. Brooke has every right to fight back since her marriage is being attacked by Steffy/Taylor/Thomas. Let's not forget Steffy started this stupid war against Brooke/Hope.

Since Taylor is the instigator, it makes perfect sense. She has a long history of hiding being Stephanie's skirts and getting her to do the dirty work and she's at it again with her namesake.

I would go as far as saying she manipulated Reese... She fed his mind with so much crap and ideas that he stole Hope's baby for her... She told him what she was willing to pay and he gave her a good deal. No, I am not saying she ordered him to do it like she did when she ordered Stephanie and Massimo to put that hit on Brooke. I am saying she got in his head and planted the seeds that resulted in what he did to Hope and Liam.

But Taylor is the main reason why Steffy is acting this way. Steffy is doing this for Taylor even more than for Ridge, because Taylor has openly expressed that she could never be happy with any other man but Ridge. If Taylor was telling Steffy that she doesn't want to be the reason for the end of a marriage and that she doesn't want Ridge back if he only chooses her because he's being pressured by their kids, then MAYBE there would be a small chance that Steffy would listen to her mom, while she would never listen to Brooke. And she wouldn't even listen to her dad because she would think that Brooke has him under her spell again, which would be even more reason for her to try and "free" him.

Steffy needs professional help for her obsessive behavior, and one would think with two doctors in the family, one of them the world-renowned psychiatrist, at least one of them would notice. Steffy is not acting like an adult, and since a report came out that there are more psychopaths in the CEO positions than any other career choice, maybe the job of CEO suits Steffy. Steffy will do anything to get what she wants, and she doesn't care who she hurts. She is narcissist and self-centered. That is psychopath behavior. Brooke should tell Steffy that if Steffy causes her marriage to Ridge to break up, that Brooke will make sure that Steffy's marriage crumbles also. As much as I don't like Flo, maybe they could bring Flo back to go after Finn to give Steffy a little competition and get her mind on her own marriage instead of someone else's.

Yes, and carry a two by four with you, Brooke, to knock out Steffy's teeth.
Brooke is right to go to Taylor because confronting Steffy is only gonna make Steffy whine and cry to her daddy and get sympathy.

Let's face it - Brooke knows Steffy won't listen to anything she says (or for the most part, anything anyone says when she sets her sites on something). There's no value in speaking to Steffy - in fact it would give her the satisfaction of knowing that she's getting to Brooke.
Brooke was smart to go to Taylor. She knows that if Taylor really wanted to do the right thing, she could put her foot down with Steffy and make her stop. Instead, she just giggles like a teenager, hangs on Ridge, and mildly rebukes Steffy like she's not committed to it (because she's not, of course).
Of course, going to Taylor is not likely to get much action either, but it's still a better shot at having an impact that talking to "Talk to the hand" / "My way or no way" Steffy.
