Something illogical about Tom' feelings for Hope and Brooke (General)

This is one of the things I could never comprehend about Thomas' supposed grand love for Hope.
How can he claim he loves Hope and say it would be ideal if they were living together, when he visibly hates her mother so much???

His feelings for Hope still sound very deep! He didn't just tell her he still loves her, he said he is only devoted and in love with one woman and she will always be that woman. He is still fantasizing about her, and not as Douglas mother but as a romantic partner. In the past he said there is only one woman he has never gotten over and it's Hope. On one hand, he seems obsessed with her but on the other hand, I notice he never criticizes her. When he criticizes Brooke and the Logans he never includes Hope. He defends her when someone bashes her. At the Forrester dinner last week he was the only person praising and defending her presence. So whether he is obsessed or loves her, at least he admires her and acknowledges all the good things she did for Douglas.

What does he think would happen if Hope chooses him and he still tries to ruin her mother's marriage and bashes her every opportunities he has? In the past he had a long dream sequence, he and Hope were coming home after Brooke's funerals. It was so creepy. If he was smart and wanted to gain points with Hope, having cordial relations with Brooke would be a good start. If he wanted to prove he has changed, he would make some efforts and get along. He doesn't have to be Brooke's friend, he doesn't even have to like her. But he has to stop criticizing her and begging his father to divorce her. If he thinks he still has 0.0001% of chance to win Hope over, bad mouthing Brooke is the last thing he should do. Now what? Just when Hope was starting to defend Thomas to Liam and give him the benefit of the doubt, she walks in on him and Steffy crucifying her mother. He just ruined ALL progress he's made lately. :roll

I think Paris would be better than Hope for Tom. But now she also deserves a lot better. Only Sheila isn't good enough for him. :-D

Because Thomas is sick. He does not love Hope. That’s not love. He thinks she’s a good person and that being with her will make him a better person. Thomas is a leech.

Thomas claimed he loves Hope, but his feelings for Hope is a very unhealthy obsession. If his "love" for her was a genuine love, he would have NEVER kept the truth about Beth being alive from her at all! Knowing full well that she was so grieve stricken for months by the "loss" of her beloved Beth. He does NOT love her at all..it's just a one way obsession since he is well aware that Hope has NEVER been in love with him ever.

I don't disagree with this, but my topic is specifically about his feelings for BROOKE. The story with Beth is history. It doesn't mean he should be forgiven but it's in the past, the charaters don't talk about it. But NOW, he still worships Hope. He always defends her, thinks about her and says he wants what's best for her. How can he seriously mean it if he hates her mother so much? Does he think Hope would turn on and disown her mother if they were together? Does he think she would accept his constant Brooke bashing if they were raising Douglas as a couple? This is a twisted logic he has!!

IMO, Thomas is a total creep! That said, please writers, move on from the bashing of Brooke, the flagrant flirting between Ridge and Taylor and the tots pushing them together. This whole scenario is really getting old. When is the last time Forrester had a fashion show? Need another competitve fashion house and getting back to the roots of this show. I fast forwarded today and have been for days!

What Thomas said to Carter today about Hope made no sense, either. He said he didn't want to hurt Hope or alienate Hope, but he wants his parents together and he's seeking legal advice. Add that to him taking Douglas and not returning him, and it seems like to me, he's manipulating. But Hope is not protecting herself because she doesn't want to start a war, either.

It was interesting that Thomas didn't tell Carter that he'd taken the child and not given him back despite the shared custody agreement.
