I can tell you why....Bell Productions owns the whole show, so they foot the whole bill. Other soaps are owned by the networks. They have bigger budgets. YR is owned by Sony, not Bell Productions. I get why BP is doing what they are doing, they have a much smaller budget and less working capital. Bell Dramatic has a credit on YR, but they have no creative control and probably receive residuals and a production credit for creating the show and owning part of it, for years. They sold it completely to CBS/Sony.

Not sure about all of this. Casey said they were told to eliminate half the shows sets a while back. Probably due to budget cuts from the network. Brad doesn’t foot the entire bill for the show. They are still given a budget from the network which owns the show. Sponsors don’t pay as much for commercial spots during the show as much as they used too, which limits how much money the network, CBS, makes from the show. They don’t make as much money, hence they don’t give B&B as much money.

The network does not own the show, Bell-Phillip Productions owns the show. BBL Inc even distributes it. Brad Bell owns BBL Distribution Inc. . Here is an example of owners. ATWT was owned by Proctor and Gamble, they were the sponsors of the show. CBS distributed it for them.

As far as sets go, Eric's house needs a real makeover and Hope and Liam need their own house, sick of the dark tiny cabin. Brooke lives in a huge house and her daughter and grandkids live in a shack. So weird.

As far as sets go, Eric's house needs a real makeover and Hope and Liam need their own house, sick of the dark tiny cabin. Brooke lives in a huge house and her daughter and grandkids live in a shack. So weird.
I like cabins. And I love Eric's house. It's Brooke's house that needs updating to me. Reminds me of something out of the "Munsters."

They do try to add new characters but the show from literally day one was The Ridge Show and that hasn’t changed and Liam became Ridge for the new generation and it’s pretty much his show too. All roads lead back to these men and the women they are with, and this was a problem even in the “glory days”. Other characters disappeared after a while.

The problem is even when they add new characters they don't know what to write for them and so they're phased out after a while. And then the same old stories are repeated over and over again and the new characters are written out.

I have been trying to push back on myself and ask are plots really the same? Unfortunately, the answer is yes they are. Anything involving either of the infamous triangles feels repetitive to many of us. The custody question is new, but they are ruining it by layering it with innuendoes that Thomas is still hung up on Hope. That’s a repeat. I don’t blame Bell for not wanting to give up his family business. It’s his legacy.
