I didn't like Brooke with Eric, the same way I didn't like Taylor with Eric, Donna with Eric, Taylor with Rick after he had dated Phoebe or Ridge with the second Caroline after she had dated Thomas. That being said, the last time Eric had talked to Beth about their relationship (before he started seeing Brooke), Beth pretended that she was happy in Paris with Stephen and had moved on. Beth may be upset that Eric is involved with Brooke, but she can't expect him to keep holding on forever if she sends him mixed signals.

I am so over this.... Beth made the decision to stay with her worthless husband, so she does not get to blame Brooke or Eric for the way things turned out. That is all on Beth.. SHE could have had Eric instead of Brooke. SHE had to live with the choice SHE made. Just like Eric has to live with his decision to cheat on Beth with Stephanie at that frat party and getting stuck with some other mans bastard son for life. Now that is something Beth can confront Eric with. She cant confront the man for moving on with his life when Beth made her choice to stay with Stephen.

I could never understand why Beth took back that loser Steven. He abandoned the family for years. Even after she took him back he took money to lie and lure Brooke over to Paris. He was scum. Yes Beth left Eric and that is on her. Eric treated Brooke well always. He was kind and really helped her when she was hurting. They loved each other, perhaps Eric loved Brooke more than he loved her but they made a lasting connection based on love and respect that endures to this day. Stephanie the nasty, scheming witch was the villain of the piece.

I think and this is just my opinion, that Beth/Eric didn’t have the chemistry he had with Stephanie and later Brooke (even though I am no Beric fan and glad it didn’t last).

I think the first Beth actress, Judith Baldwin, had chemistry with JMC from the little bit they interacted. I am not sure why they replaced her but while she was good, I think Nancy Burnett was a stronger actress. However I am not seeing much chemistry with her and JMC (I am rewatching the old eps, I’m at the part where Eric met her at her office).

So I’m not sure how well Beth/Eric went over and then it was more dramatic with Brooke/Eric, hence imo why they pushed Beth off onto Steven.

Beth and Eric should have been the love story but I think JMC and SF had something special that the show liked to use. They always ended up back together just like Bridge.

I wanted Throoke instead of Beric in 1990 but Macy was in the picture then and Thacy was a hit.
