I've never heard of anyone doing that in real life. But the ashes are in an urn or box and can be kept on the mantle or on a table or even opened and spread out over a favorite ocean or piece of water, a tree, etc.

So I guess in a case like this with two wanting some ashes, they could be split later. I personally think now is NOT the time to even think about or ask for that. Steffy is out of town, no one knows when she will return so take one thing at a time and ask if they must later.

Right? Plus, that's plain morbid if the cremation already happened -- and it should have after all this time. And yeah, it's not the time to ask it. The time would have been BEFORE a cremation. Is there some possibility that Finn has not been cremated after all these weeks and weeks? That shooting was April 1st or there about, right? two and a half months ago real time. So it has to be too long to stay above ground even soap time, right?

I'm sorry. I meant split ashes with people as the way Taylor indicated in the show.

Funerals home will make a locket or several lockets with your loved ones ashes for you to wear. They also make a thumb print on a locket with a chain or a piece of your loved ones hair. They will also divide the ashes for you.

I can understand I guess if it's prearranged and predetermined and the funeral home does it. Taylor is talking like this cremation has already happened, so I wonder what Taylor is expecting Li to do? Just pour some of him in a jar?

It's been weeks since he died. Would he still be sitting around somewhere uncremated or unburied? This shooting happened in April soap time, so that's why I find this appalling right now.

They have discussed this before he was cremated.

I know a lot of people that have a portion of their loved ones ashes. There are special necklaces designed to accommodate that.

But Steffy assumed Finn was cremated. I don’t recall Li ever saying he was.

Yes, they assume it and if it already happened, how you gonna then ask for some? That's proper? I have no idea how it works, but I am assuming if it's done and he's already in a box, it's not proper to be asking for some.

Steffy didn't ask for anything. Taylor did. I don't recall Steffy asking Taylor to ask, either.

Its not uncommon to split them up among family especially siblings. I have my dad's ashes in a necklace on my mantle and my sister has the rest in an urn.

Did you ask for some and your sister scooped it out? That's what Taylor did today. She asked Li for it as if the cremation has happened and someone will have to go in and scoop some out. I'm asking if THAT is normal.

Aren't they sealed? How do you even get in it?

I mean, basically. Neither of us was prepared to deal with it right after the memorial service, so we just stored the ashes at the funeral home. 2-3 months later, I got it together and had the necklace made, and they just scooped a portion out for me. It sounds so morbid now.

Taylor asking Li for ashes is a little odd since they barely know each other. If anyone should ask, it would be Steffy, but the request itself is not that unusual.

I guess I'm assuming they think Finn is already in an urn at Li's and NOT at the funeral home. I think it might be more appropriate to ask what funeral home he's at than asking if he can get some ashes as if he's sitting on her shelf. That's weird to me. Aren't those things sealed once you get the final urn?

I didn't know you can cremate and store ashes at the funeral home. I have never had to deal with that. Yes, Steffy needs to be finding that stuff out, not Taylor just off the cuff, by the way, asking and saying how "wonderful" it would be to have "some" ashes. If you can store it and not have to deal with it until ready as in your case, then it's even worse that Taylor asked that so casually instead of letting Steffy handle it once Steffy is back. If it can stay months like that, then....yeah...should have waited.

Thanks for sharing that information because I didn't know ashes can just stay at the funeral home. I thought you get it done and have to take then. so thanks.

I didn’t understand you meant scooped. Sorry. You could ask the crematorium to divide the ashes. I’m sure there’s a lot that does go into that sort of thing though…religious requirements for some, ethnic customs for others could all affect the idea of separating ashes.

Well, I guess it's a lucky thing Finn was (supposedly) cremated. Otherwise Taylor might have had to ask Li for an arm or a leg.

They’re all assuming he was. Li has never said one way or the other what happened to his body.

My father passed in 1993 and he was cremated. My mother wants to be cremated as well and her ashes mixed in with his and then have them divided between me, my brother and my son. She has already picked out 3 urns.

I am surprised that Li hasn't given the Forresters some fake ashes to get them to get off of her back. They could have a memorial service without a body or ashes. What is it going to take for Taylor to realize that Li does not care for her? I have had friends that were cremated, but the ashes stayed in the urn at all except for one. My mom's cousin's ashes were spread over my mom's grandmother's and grandfather's grave, which was also my mom's cousin's grandparents. It was weird because they were in a plastic bag in a box. The lady's niece poured them from the bag onto the ground. When my uncle was cremated, my cousin buried him in a special urn between my grandparent's graves. I have never heard of anyone scooping out the ashes and dividing them after receiving them from the funeral home.

Actually, Yes it is proper depending on the family and the person cremated.... Sometimes it takes time to decide what to do with someone's ashes. Sometimes a person wanted to be spread in several locations.

My mother-in-law died in January and the family still hasn't decided what they want to do with her ashes.. For the moment she is in hubby's closet (and I want her out). My husband wants to take her to the Blue Ridge Parkway and spread them on an overlook... Her other son expects us to put her in her husband's grave, yet he expects us to pay to open the grave and the cost of the funeral home. (Her husband was in the process of divorcing her when he has a stroke in the lawyers office)....Brother also disowned her years ago and claimed she was dead to him and refused to come to her service. Personally I feel he gave up any rights to decide what to do with her. But that is not my circus. If he wants her buried he needs to travel the 500 miles and get the ashes and do whatever he can afford to do with them. The grave is 300 miles away..

On a side note: The woman tormented us about wanting to move in with us so I could take care of her. Well after 35 years ago, the woman got her wish. I want her out of my house.
