Ridge "rolling his eyes" while Brooke was talking today (General)

Cendrillon, 6/3/2022, 10:20PM (695 days ago)

At the beginning of the episode, right around the 0:55 mark, Ridge practically ROLLED HIS EYES while Brooke was going on and on. It was a "moment" between Taylor and Ridge, as she looked at him while Brooke was laying it on her, and he did the eye roll as though "his wife" was being unreasonable. You would have thought Brooke was his MOTHER at that point! lol

The reason for the virtual eye roll was clarified later on when Ridge said he has had to process a lot lately, and Brooke said that she has had to do the same, to which Ridge responded emphatically that HE AND TAYLOR have had way more on their plate than Brooke with everything that happened to their daughter and son-in-law. Next thing you knew, Brooke was asked to leave him alone with his EX-WIFE - and all she got from him was "I'll see you in the office!" which was very very cold. Not even "I'll call you later".

Sure, Ridge had that Liam-like WORRIED PUPPY DOG look on his face as Brooke left, referring to him as her "lovely husband" - but that also explains why Ridge is returning to her next week. He generally likes to make it LOOK like he's keeping his hands clean, from a public standpoint, and as Thorsten Kaye said, he wants "to try and make his marriage work", so that no one can fault him for leaving his current wife for his ex-wife. Especially because everyone knows that Sheila switched the champagne bottle labels, and so he knows it's going to look bad if Brooke's so-called "lovely husband" leaves her high and dry because of something the madwoman Sheila set into motion.

Ridge is ALL about public appearances. And the fact that Brooke called him her "lovely husband" soon after he said "I'll see you at the office" reminded the doofus that the optics would not be good if he left Brooke for Taylor right now. On the other hand, if BROOKE were to dump him because she finds out about Ridge and Taylor keeping the truth about Thomas from her, then he will have the PERFECT EXCUSE to reunite with Taylor - his own hands will be 'clean', and he will say he can't help it if Brooke couldn't understand why he was trying to protect his son. That will be on BROOKE, in his mind.

Of course by the time something like that were to happen, Taylor would already be with Deacon (or Bill), and that's going to complicate things momentarily.

But what was clear from today's episode is that Ridge DOESN'T RESPECT Brooke as a person, whereas he does respect Taylor. Oh yes, he might thoroughly enjoy HAVING SEX with Brooke - but that's always been the whole point of Brooke to him. Caroline and Taylor were the good, clean cut girls - the heiress and the doctor - while Brooke was the bad girl from the Valley who turned him on, but she NEVER had his respect as an individual!

Ridge has had an abundance of time to divorce Brooke and reunite with Taylor. Despite the pressure and endless pleas from his children and ex-wife to leave Brooke, he's still a married man. And now spoilers suggest that Ridge goes home to Brooke wanting to make his marriage work. Interesting. There's no Bridge kids in his ear pounding him to stay married to their mother. There's no pressure, no outside influence, no manipulation to return home. The spoiler picture posted shows Ridge and Brooke together in the same clothes they were wearing on today's show. Guess he leaves his little dinner with Taylor and heads right over to see Brooke. Weird.

Maybe that is why he asked Brooke to leave so he could break the bad news to Taylor.

That's what I posted yesterday. I think he wants to be alone with Taylor so he can tell her he's going home to Brooke.

Taylor the clean cut girl, the doctor.
Doctor? More like quack.
Taylor who married to get an education.
Taylor committed adultry.
Taylor the drunken hit and run driver.
Taylor who broke into another doctors office to steal files.
Taylor who had sex with the Logan family.
Taylor had sex with the Forrestor family.
Taylor had sex with strangers.
Taylor who shot a man in the back to leave him to die. Guess she forgot her doctor oath.
Taylor leaving her ex husband in jail for the crime.

I know we can expect a Brooke list and you can list all you want but Taylor is not now or ever was a clean cut girl. She came from the same valley as Brooke.

You hit the nail on the head. In that soap publication, notice TK says he went to Brad Bell and said whatever happens must be Brooke’s decision. I’m so sick of Ridge. Let’s get it over with already. This is emotional abuse. I don’t think it’s fair to Brooke or her fans that she be stuck with a loser like Deacon that was a mistake of her past, but I’d like to see her move on with someone else - he doesn’t have to be rich - and never return to Ridge again.

I watched it twice and saw it the opposite way. I saw Ridge look at Taylor like she was just trying to start trouble when she was yammering on to Brooke about how she and Ridge wanted to be alone because of what their daughter went through. Brooke was agreeing with her and Taylor kept yammering, and Brooke pointed out that if she was so concerned why didn't she go with her? All Taylor did then was throw her hands around and go "ahhh" and acted all offended that someone dared ask her WHY if she is so worried about her newly widowed daughter, did she send her off with 2 little kids and the nanny ALONE to Paris? LOL. Taylor was being pissy because her little scheme got interrupted by the wife. Brooke was staying calm while Taylor was making stink faces and doing squint eye faces, LOL,

Also, Ridge did not ask her to leave, she said "so, you are asking me to leave" statement, not a question. Ad he did not say yes, he said he was asking her to understand. And she was calm and said OK. He said "I'll see you at the office" which was an butthole thing to say, and then Brooke made the remark about "my lovely husband" they showed Taylor's face first, which had a smirk, and then Ridge, which showed he knew he needed to stop the nonsense, and that he had insulted his WIFE.

TK didn't say Ridge wants to "try" to make his marriage work, he said he wants to make his marriage work.

Why would that "secret" about Thomas even make any difference to Brooke? She knows that Thomas wants her out of Ridge's life and would do almost anything to reunite his parents, and she knows that Ridge always forgives him, no matter what he has done. Given that she still took Ridge back after he forgave Thomas for keeping the Beth secret and taking advantage of Hope, I just don't see why she would dump him over forgiving Thomas for keeping quiet about the label switch. Thomas' choice even caused much more pain to his own family this time than it did to Brooke. And it's not like Brooke sees Thomas as someone she can trust. She has always been wary of him since his involvement in the Beth conspiracy, so what would it actually change if she knew that he had learned about the label switch a few weeks before everyone else? Sure Thomas telling the truth could have spared her a few weeks of asking herself why she drank. But Ridge had already moved out anyway, so her marriage would still have been in jeopardy. That's why I doubt she would be that mad at Ridge for not letting her know about Thomas' involvement with Sheila that she would suddenly want out of her marriage.

That wasn't clear from today's episode, and it has never been clear before either. Just because Bridge have always been shown as totally compatible in the bedroom, this doesn't mean Ridge has ever respected Brooke less than Taylor. Brooke has never been potrayed as "the bad girl from the valley", especially not in the first decade of the show, that's just your own subjective way of seeing her because she's your faves' nemesis. She was just a little bolder than Caroline or Taylor and went for what she wanted, which made her a more interesting and layered character, but not a "bad girl". The only time she could ever be called a "bad girl" was between 1998 and 2001, when she was walking around FC in lingerie to seduce Ridge or hiding under Thorne's bed, but that was just a very short phase in her life. And totally dismissing Brooke's career, acting like the mere fact of being an heiress or a doctor makes Caroline and Taylor better people than a hard-working, successful chemist from the valley, especially when Taylor is from the same valley, doesn't prove your point either.

Exactly. For some reason the writers think we are going to buy that rich people, or in Taylor's case, people who marry rich people to have them pay their way, are somehow better than people who work hard, and pay for themselves. Caroline was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and she was a nice person and my favorite when she was on the show. Taylor married an older man to get out of the poverty she lived in and get him to pay her way through college. And that was actually said on this show. That she married this rich older man for security, and he said he paid her way through school.

TK mentioned in his recent interview that women that know what they want and go after it, like Brooke, and he said "like Brooke" are very appealing.

My husband and I watch the CBS Sunday Morning Show every week. A good friend was one of the producers for years. We now call it "The Rich People's Sunday Morning Show" because all they cover anymore is rich people. Or rich people's homes, places only rich people can go to, etc. LOL. That is how I feel about soaps in general, but they do it because of time constraint.

I don’t think the show perpetrates it. They have characters that are elitist but it doesn’t mean that the writers agree with those characters views. In fact Bell had stories centered around the homeless and those characters were clearly to be sympathetic and respected.

It’s just like how in Harry Potter you have the elitists who only like people who are “pure blood” witches and wizards. That doesn’t mean Rowling was saying we were supposed to agree with their views.

That's true, but I do think soaps and Lifetime movies focus on the rich as core characters because they are escapist fare. I don't care who likes whom on B&B. That's like saying just because I like aquamarines, everyone should like aquamarines. What I can't stand here are the back-and-forth arguments during which people refuse to allow another his or her point-of-view. We all like different things because we come from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnic backgrounds, etc. The last thing we should have to worry about is who likes whom on B&B. All the characters have their fans and all aren't liked by some. I find Paris enjoyable, but most don't. Who should care? I don't mind if some, or even most, don't. Just because something is escapist fare doesn't mean we have to agree with the characters' views, I agree. Harry Potter is escapist fare, but Rowling sure knows how to create a world of witches and warlocks. I don't enjoy it, but I have no qualms with those who are nuts about it.

Brooke screwed over her own daughter and sister can’t get worse than that.

I think murder is worse. Bridget still has her life and she long ago got over Deacon and Brooke, but if Sheila had been successful, both Finn and Steffy would have been dead. Had Deacon not been lucky, Quinn would have killed him when she pushed him into the sea. Had Liam not come along, Taylor would have been successful in killing Bill. Brooke shouldn't have had an affair with Deacon, but there's no law against it. However, there are very strict laws against murder and attempted murder, and no statute on limitations on being prosecuted.

I find plenty worse than what Brooke did, though I don't approve of it.

You did mean, Brooke would be with Deacon or Bill right? Not Taylor.
