Practically speaking, it's probably that Sheila's escaped. And yes, that would be an excellent reason for Steffy to disappear with the children for a while. My only hope is that she takes her ditzy mother with her!

Shown on screen, Steffy blackmailed Bill. Yet, she told Ivy (and Liam too) that “blackmail is a crime”. Per Steffy’s own words, she IS a criminal cuz she has blackmailed.
