Thomas put himself in her rear view window when he left and told her he would try to find a woman who would accept his proposal. She still misses him, but his own words didn´t give her any hopes for a future with him.
Other than us she also doesn´t know he is on his way back soon.

It cannot be overlooked that Thomas left because Hope didn't give him any hope that she'd marry him. It's not right that he's supposed to give her hope that he'll stand around and wait until she might be ready one day or not.
whether he's there or not, she told him already she doesn't want to marry him. She just told Finn that Thomas and Liam were not IT for her. If she goes to Thomas, she'd be settling. Plain and simple.

I agree with you about the friendzone. Finn doesn't want her at all. As for Thomas, I wouldn't be opposed to him coming back, giving THOPE a refresher, but if she's gonna be pining away for Finn, then maybe Tom should stay away.

He can keep them apart, only working for HFTF perhaps, which would probably still mean getting together sooner or later again.
He could also have them resume their relationship and be each others great love...it just depends on what he plans to do with them.

I could be completely wrong but I think regardless of the reason they’re telling us Thomas is in her past now. She’s even come up with a reason why he wasn’t right for her today.

Years ago it might have meant something but today the show is all over the place, I thought so often that something had a reason why it was mentioned and then it was never mentioned again.
