If it's completely ok for Finn to say to Hope, how amazing she is, how she "deserves better than Thomas" and "as long as he lives,Thomas will never be with Hope", so it's also ok for him to hear EVERYTHING Steffy has to say about Liam.
Atleast Steam share a daugther and have a past together, which explains them being close.

The two cannot be compared at this time because Finn hasn't repeatedly cheated on Steffy with Hope. When he does then we can compare them. Liam and Steffy have repeatedly been inappropriate to the point of Steffy needing a paternity test when she was with Finn and Liam was married to Hope. And after all their mutual admiration society speeches if Steffy does hear Finn and has a problem with it then she's the biggest hypocrite on the show. Although I'd argue that she already is actually, with her do as I say, not as I do attitude.
