What happened to the days when exes were exes

Perhaps this happens in real life. I don’t know. This business about the exes doing family stuff with the kids to give the false illusion that the marriage is in tact. Is this a thing now? I don’t think exes have to be enemies. They should be a a bare minimum cordial. I guess I’m thinking about other soaps on now and old soaps where the parents who got along didn’t talk about the old days like Leffy did yesterday or put their hands all over each others bodies in public like Tridge did year before last. Eric and Brooke have a healthy ex relationship. I know It would be boring if exes were always high functioning. I recognize that. I don’t understand Hope either. She’s all into Thomas is her family. That caused friction with Lope. I guess Liam is my family will cause friction for Thope because Leffy is family caused angst for Hope. I don’t get it. An ex should be an ex sometime. Co-parenting should not be an excuse to keep a secret lover nearby. I think this may be the number 1 reason I do not care for any in this 30 something age group.

I don't see any indication that doing family stuff with the kids is meant to give the false illusion that the marriage is intact. Far from it. It is so that the children will know that even though the marriage is over, the family is still a family. Kelly, and Beth too, I'm sure are very, very aware that their parents are no longer married. Rather than having two parents fighting with each other, which then hurts the child, they are taking the healthy route of showing them that although mom and dad are no longer married, they can still be friends and family. Children of divorce go through so much emotional pain. To see their parents on friendly terms with each other and together, would be very healing in the midst of the reality of the divorce.

And what secret lovers are being kept nearby? There are no "secret lovers" that I've seen.

I believe Hope has always been attracted to Thomas and was secretly waiting for him to change. She’s been tired of Liam a long while. I believe she only married Liam because she was pregnant with Beth. I think Liam and Steffy stay close as a backup plan. They stand too close together. That’s how I interpret the writing. I know many people in real life who co-parent well, but in this show the coparenting seems to be used to keep couples sniffing around each other.
