Steffy is not a violent person (Spoilers)

Liam is not the first person to say it. Brooke said it, too, even though Steffy brandished a knife in Brooke's house.

If they're trying to whitewash Steffy into being the victim here I don't get what was the need to write her going to Sheila's house to instigate her repeatedly. They could just as easily have written that it was Sheila who refused to leave Finn and his family alone and made Steffy feel scared all over again. Then Steffy would have been justified in being called the victim and defending herself when Sheila came to her house at night in the dark. But they write Steffy declaring she's no longer afraid, and going over to Sheila's place and punching her more than once and now when Sheila tries to retaliate they decide Steffy is the victim after all. Make it make sense please. Do the writers not even consult with each other to see what was written in the previous scenes?
