I disagree.

Kate is in her 30’s, isn’t a big deal for me.

As long as you can act that’s all that matters.
Not there age.

I would not mind if Kate played Diana carter Marone.
The character has been off this show for years.

. Diana is meant to be RJ's age. That is the issue. Also, Finn is meant to be significantly older than her. She is his baby sister. Kate looks older than Tanner or, at the very least, the same age. She could have made sense as her older daughter Mary, who is Thomas's age.

Age does matter in casting and story, especially in characters under 40. If you are trying to create a realistic story, acting is not the only qualification. Would a 40-year-old RJ makes sense as long as they can act? Or a 25-year-old Kristen recast?
