I understand why the doctor keeps this a secret but are family members required to keep quiet? I don’t think so. They are not required to honor patient doctor confidentiality.

Family should honor ERIC’S wishes. It’s his diagnosis and it’s his news to share if and when he chooses to do so. Otherwise it’s disregarding and disrespecting him.
