Sheila still thinks it's Steffy's fault

Why can't Finn ever say that HE doesn't want Sheila in HIS life? He simply just tells her she "can't be there", "please go" etc. A nutjob like Sheila only hears "Steffy doesn't want you around us, so you can't be here".

When Sheila left, she still thinks she could have a relationship with Finn if only Steffy would allow it. That makes Sheila a threat to Steffy.

Finn needs to make Sheila realize that with or without Steffy in the picture, HE doesn't want her near him.

If Finn isn't sure if he really wants Sheila gone from his life, he needs to be honest with Steffy about that.

This reminds me of B&Bs eternal love triangles. Two women fighting for a man, and the man never speaks up about what he wants because he doesn't want to make any decision. He wants both.

Except Finn told Sheila point blank today that no one has the capacity to control him nor his choices when Sheila tried to blame Steffy today. He also told Sheila that she needs to stop using Kelly as a way to earned grace. He told her today that he will only be happy, if she walks out of his life. Finn was quite direct today, but Sheila still won't listen, as she never listens to anyone who disagrees with he or goes against her.

When Finn choked Sheila? When he called Sheila, a monster and a psycho? When he told her he didn't need to know that she was alive? When he confronted her in prison and told her that her crimes were unforgivable? Did Sheila ever give up? Nope, she was still obsessed with Finn. Sheila does not listen EVER.

But that's not true. After Finn & Steffy reunited in Monaco until March when she almost died there was very little talk about Finn. She said she missed him but that was it. Once she was free living with Bill she never initiated any contact with him. Their only interaction was one initiated by Finn telling her to stay away. And she did. She told Bill it was hopeless and for months the only time she brought it up was when she was deflecting because she didn't want Bill to know she was thinking about Deacon. I am sure she hoped something would change but she did what he asked and stayed away.

This started back up again when Finn saved her life. And then the hugs and then the day at the beach.
Finn is a good man that is trying to do the right thing by his family but clearly he had some conflicted feelings. And those things just don't go away because you want them too.

I would be fine if Finn & Sheila never had another scene together and while I know that won't happen I wouldn't be surprised if now that Steffy is gone the story shifts away from this.

With all due respect, how is this not true? Wasn't Sheila still obsessed with Finn and lamenting how Finn still loves her regardless of Finn telling her to stay away? My point was mostly focus on how her obsession with Finn never ceases. Were they quieter moments, but on the surface, Sheila had not truly given up on developing a relationship with Finn, even when Finn rebuffed her.

  • Sheila in her disguise while everyone thought she was dead, trespassed into Finn's home and held Hayes; cleary showing her obsession with her biological son and grandson had not gone away.
  • Sheila was still telling Deacon during those months that she was hiding how much she misses Finn and wants to be with him and that she would want him to forgive her.
  • When Finn uncovered her death, Sheila took it as some sort of sign, how that medical brilliancy of Finn's came from her and was obsessing over their "connection".
  • When Finn confront her after Bill got her charges dropped, Sheila thought Finn needed more "time" even when he told her to face he didn't even want to know that she was alive.
  • After he saved her life, the obsession heightened. She was sending him incessant emails and letters. Convincing herself that he saved her life because he loved her even though Finn made it clear it was because he took an oath.

I don't deny Finn has conflicted feelings. I would argue that the moment Finn learned about the bottle switch and then the shooting and hostage arc happened, the feelings went from conflicted to pure hatred, and backtracking on that was a mistake, and has done some major damage to Finn's characterization. It also downplays that Finn's trauma when it comes to Sheila. Finn was held hostage by Sheila! He should be terrified alongside Steffy! Nevertheless, to me, it does not matter what Finn says or does, Sheila was still obsessed with Finn and extremely delusional about him.

My opinion is that Finn is just desperate to believe that there is some good in Sheila, as this murderous sociopath was never who he envisioned was going to be his birth mother. He is trying to reconcile the woman who give him birth and her horrific crimes. But Bold refuses to write this type of nuance. I don't think Finn wants to have a relationship with Sheila per se, he wants to satisfy his curiosity. The very fact that he rarely ever initiates contact with Sheila is proof that developing a relationship with Sheila is not something that majorly concerns him or yearns for on a deep level.
