The problem with Thomas - he will never live it down

Stories involving babies and kids hit me in a different way. In some ways my uneasiness with Thomas is a celebration of MAs acting. He convinced me that he had become creepy and threatening in the way that he pursued Hope and tried to talk her into getting over Liam and her dead child. Smirking after Emma died made her more of a character of consequence than when she was alive. Chastising Douglas didn’t help at all. Then, the show surfaced Douglas’ disappointment in his father yet again, less than a year ago. Sure other characters have done awful things, but it’s not the same. The mistake the writers make in my opinion is that when they write characters into a corner they fall back on stereotypical soapy plots. Rehabilitating a villain takes more than lusty scenes with disco lights and the victim falling for her former stalker. All this plot has done for me is make me look at Hope in a different way.

Above all, being anti-Thope doesn’t mean I’m pro-Lope. One thing has nothing to do with the other. Hope cannot and should not save Thomas.

He will never live down many things in my eyes, but how he’s treated Douglas (even recently, dragging that kid into court in an effort to manipulate Hope, thinking Douglas would chose to live with him and it backfired) and what he did where Beth is concerned are absolute deal breakers and in my eyes he will always be an evil monster capable of anything.

And like you, just because I cannot stand Thomas and will never accept Thope does not translate into me being in favor of Lope, but I’ll accept Lope if it keeps Thope from happening, that’s for sure!
